track numbers in front of song names in windows music library, windows 7

I have track numbers in front of some of my song names (not title) in my music libarary.  How do I get rid of them.  They are not in the "name" in WMP.  I try to right click and rename and that doesn't work.  I try going through properties into details and delete numbers in front of name, but it doesn't stay changed.  Tried to edit in WMP and that doesn't work.  Nothing I do permenantly changes the name (not title). 

Help!!!!!!

    Right - I think I can kind of figure this out. I'll check on my old W7 laptop - (handy that - I can play around with stuff and no concerns about messing anything up!) It'll probably be tomorrow sometime... Cheers, R.

    Also.....if i right click on properties it reflects system as administrator.  If i want to change it to me and try to click full control.....it won,t let me.  It won,t let me change adm8nistrators.

    Now i have another problem.  If i right click on a song in wmp that is a dup in same place...because title was a little different.....when i right click on song then delete.......it wont delete.   And in my computer library.....when i right click to delete it asks me if i,m sure i want to move it!!!!!

    Ok.......i see.  I looked at a particular song and it reflects in two different files on my computer library.  That,s actually correct because:  each file is the lists of songs i have put on two seperate fladh drives.....mine and my husbands.  I did this in the event either stick got destroyed or lost, i could just copy another one.  Some of his music is different than mine.  Is there a better way to do this?

    To establish they really are duplicates (and not different files) highlight each one (of a particular song) in turn... right-click and select 'Open File Location' - does it take you to the same folder each time - or somewhere different?
