track numbers in front of song names in windows music library, windows 7

I have track numbers in front of some of my song names (not title) in my music libarary.  How do I get rid of them.  They are not in the "name" in WMP.  I try to right click and rename and that doesn't work.  I try going through properties into details and delete numbers in front of name, but it doesn't stay changed.  Tried to edit in WMP and that doesn't work.  Nothing I do permenantly changes the name (not title). 

Help!!!!!!

    Thank you again for all your help.  I did find a tutorial of WMP but its pretty vague.  There is no way to contact either of you guys if I have another problem, eh?

    One thing I found useful in Windows7 was having a separate user account for my audio (and a small amount of video) so there were no pictures on the account to clutter up WMP.

    This might be a way to tidy up the library by just copying over artist/album folders  - and you don't have to keep switching accounts - you can give yourself access to play the music from your main account.

    Glad SFC seems to have resolved some problems - it doesn't always get everything in one run so it may be worth doing it again... once it reports 'no violations found' - all good. - R.

    How else can you catigorize them under documents?  I have a ton of files in documents.9

    Hi Cybershyguy.

    This is what's happening:  On my computer:  If I put 5 folders under "music", under "libaries" and some of these folders have the same song in them, WMP picks up all of the songs in ALL the folders and puts them in its library, thus reflecting duplicates in WMP library.  Stay with me..............If I move four of the folders out of the "music" catagory and put them under "documents", under "libraries" on my computer and leave just one folder under the "music" catagory, WMP only reflects the songs in that folder in its library.....thus no duplicates.   The problem is:   what if I wanted to put other songs outside of the one folder into wmp........I would have to open another folder with those songs excluding the ones already in the one folder.        Did you get this???

    To summarize:  WMP picks up ALL songs in ALL folders that are in the "music" catagory on the computer.  If there are duplicate songs in these folders, it causes duplicates on WMP side.
