track numbers in front of song names in windows music library, windows 7

I have track numbers in front of some of my song names (not title) in my music libarary.  How do I get rid of them.  They are not in the "name" in WMP.  I try to right click and rename and that doesn't work.  I try going through properties into details and delete numbers in front of name, but it doesn't stay changed.  Tried to edit in WMP and that doesn't work.  Nothing I do permenantly changes the name (not title). 

Help!!!!!!

    I checked the destination and its correct, so why isn' t he music going into the "music" file on wmp rather than the made up drive?

    windows wmp created that drive.  yes, love songs is the title of the cd by Elton John.  when i right click on song in wmp, properties, location is says wmacd.  I can't really delete songs now from computer windows music library, right click gives me option of sending song to recycle.

    Ah that's sounding better... What I think you should do now is rip a couple more discs (make sure they are going to the 'C:\Users\Your username\My Music' destination (under 'Organize-Manage Libraries-Music')

    then leave it for a day or two just to make sure no unexpected duplication of files is happening. Then you can start putting stuff back - a bit at a time - from the backup folder making sure any unwanted files have been deleted first. We may be nearly there!

    Ok.......when it ripped the cd, wmp created another file "love songs(E:)"     no quotation marks on folder/file.  I right click a song to see if i could delete and no option to delete......next?

    Does the computer have a physical drive E:, or is it a virtual drive created by Win 7 or WMP?

    Is "Love Songs" possibly the name of the CD or the Album?

    Are you trying to Delete from the List Pane or the Details Pane?
