track numbers in front of song names in windows music library, windows 7

I read on a forum that wmp will put a song on its list every time you listen to it if the particular box was checked.  But yes.......if you have time we could check some things out.  I often purchase music thru amazon and then export it over to wmp.

Good -Yes - about the only thing that really needs checking is the top box in 'privacy' - it can't find CD info without that (+ clocks and maybe volume levelling). Doubling and tripling can usually be put right but again it's finding out why. Do you want to check through a few things?

Thank you thank you, thatnk you!!!!    It worked!!   Now......which one of those options did this and now i,m afraid to do updates......cause all this happened after the last updates.   In addition to this snafu......the songs have doubled and sometimes tripled.  I uncked "add local media files to library when played".  Was this correct?

Ric.......i think you might have done it!!!!!  So far so good but lets wait a bit....cause it took it 6 minutes to go back last time.   If the "rename" stays.....my guess this was one of the frigging changes in the updates.  I tell you......every time i do windows updates i get something screwed up.    Grrrrrrr

Well.....so far the "rename" has taken and put song into its proper alpha space.  Now.......my question to you.  These changes we made.....are they going to effect anything else i need to know about?  Ie: downloads from amazon music, downloads from www, pics, etc

OK - try this method - on a 'Documents' copy go to Properties Details tab and at the bottom select 'Remove All Properties' (see below) - this will put up a dialogue box that suggests creating a copy with no properties attached - go for that option.

Then list the properties as you want them to appear (including re-titling it in the General Tab) and transfer it back to your main music folder - if it still gets overwritten we'll try clearing your db.

One other thing I should have got you to check (this is the flu effect!) - make sure 'updating' settings in WMP are turned OFF - Organize - Options Library and Privacy tabs. Set as shown in the second image...
