Windows Update Error 0x800f0922

Error 0x800f0922 occurs when downloading the newest update of Windows 10. It also means that you have less than 500 MB in system reserved partition. You may follow the methods provided below and check if you'll be able to update your device.

Method 1. Check your Internet connection

You need to make sure that you have an internet connection and if possible, you are using wired connections

Method 2. Check .NET Framework

Make sure you have the latest version of NET Framework installed. You may enable it in Windows features. Here's how:

1. Type Windows Features on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Select Turn Windows Features on or off.
3. Check any boxes related to DotNet Framework and save selection.
4. Restart your PC.

Method 3. Turn off your Firewall

We know that this is strange doing, but even Firewall can prevent updates occasionally. Here's how you can turn it off:

1. Type Firewall on the search bar and press Enter.
2. Open Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
3. Turn off Firewall for both private and public networks.
4. Save your selection.
5. After saving your selection, you may try updating your device.

        As suggested above, I have tried all the above options, but not able to update Windows.

       I opened the Windows Features and did not find Dotnet file, but I did find .NET Framework and >NET framework 4.7(Advanced) files and checked them. After completion of the process, I got a message:-

      "Windows could not complete the required changes. Windows requires a reboot to return to original position"

      I tried it twice and everytime, I got the above message though I also turned the Firewall(Public and Private Firewall).

     The problem remains unchanged though the update is being downloaded automatically and subsequently reversed.

    Now I have got the new message" Your device is missing important security and quality fixes."

Perhaps it is for the above update.

So what do we do if the machine does NOT have a system partiton?

1. The system reserve and recovery partition are two different things. The former is created during Windows installation and has a fixed drive space of 500mb in Windows 10. It contains the Boot Manager, Boot Configuration Data (both responsible for booting Windows 10), and the startup files used for BitLocker Drive Encryption. While the latter is created by the user or device manufacturer for recovery purposes in case of a serious system error. It usually contains the device drivers, software, and manuals.
2. Should you need more drive space for your recovery partition, by all means, you can increase it if you still have unallocated drive space left or by shrinking other drive partitions.

How and why did my System Reserve partition get full?         

I was able to answer this question by using the "change drive letter and paths" option by right click of System Reserve Partition. By adding  a drive letter I was able to view contents in File Explorer. In this way I discovered that at some point in June a computer help person had for some reason stored some back up data files on my System Reserve Partition and so I was able to free up the space by moving the data somewhere else. Then I could also remove the drive letter once I was done to avoid confusion.

Check device manager, view, select show hidden devices, anything in gray-error code 45 device not available-not connected, delete, this also goes for portable and usb devices.

Try the install again or get it from update catalog for your device.
