OH NO!

Back to the Thumbnail Cache deletion Problem again!

MS please fix this real fast!

I was one of the testers giving information that Win10 always deleted the thumbnailcache.

Sorry page cannot be accessed any more!

All was fine after MS did some fixing with the help of MAAANNNY others that had the same problem!

Now I did the Fall Creators update! BAM! Back again.

Thumbnails get deleted ON EYERY reboot!

Thats really really annoying!

Do not try a solution. There is none!

The failure in the past was a database corruption. MS fixed it ( do not know how) and it worked. Now it is back!

Please dig into it an fix it!

    Denying System to anything is rather a nasty hack and liable to cause problems in the future if/when changes are made. I wouldn't recommend this one.

    All that I can see is that my SSHD just a few seconds ago as I restarted lost the flash memory  on the drive and also lost all thumbnails at the same tine I restarted the computer 8 more times and it is all back to a 35 second start. 

    The problem with SSHD drives is you have no control over what lives in the flash portion or when. I used to have one myself and also benchmarked them extensively for potential deployment in a business environment. In my experience they just don't offer enough of a reliable benefit.

    First boot from cold and first app launches are seldom faster than a traditional HDD. However subsequent app relaunches and reboots are faster.

    This doesn't excuse the bug that Microsoft have introduced. But I can see how such variable performance could cause problems.

    Well...it seems this is another chance to fix the d*mned thing. I know it's intended for Win7/8, but it might be useful to give it a try?

    I know about that fix in windows 7 and it worked great. but it wouldn't work in Windows 8 or 10

    If you found it to work in the newest version of windows 10 let me know

    I have Samsung (1T) SSHD drives on all my 4 computers and it also deletes the cache in the 8 gigs of flash just about every 10 or 12 hours and instead if a 35 second start up time to reverts back to a 3 minute startup time until I restart the computer 10 more times and so on the next day

    The flash/disk aspect of your SSHD is not visible to Windows, it will just see it as a drive. The drive itself manages what is stored in the flash portion and when it is moved to the disk portion based on usage patterns. This does mean that some things will vary in load time from boot-to-boot depending on if they are in flash or disk at that time. I guess Windows could be seeing this as a performance problem and so taking maintenance action.

    My drive is a Samsung Pro NVMe device with over 60% space free. I have no idea why Windows thinks this requires a disk cleanup.

    Both of these problems must be tied together

    My drive is only about 40 % full
