Windows 10 update broke my computer?

Hello. I'm quite unhappy with my entire experience. I have had to contact support multiple times because my computer "wasn't on the list" of computers able to run the latest updates. I find this incredibly ironic, as it has 8gb of ram, lots of disk space,  and a very nice processor (~2.6ghz). I have had my agents help me as much as they could, and that wasn't the bad part, they did great! For a day... Somehow, even after they went and did the whole thing about delaying updates for 8 months or so, The Windows 10 update installer app downloaded. It has hogged me for the past week, with me having to abort multiple updates, not wanting to lose my pc again. I am a student, and can not afford a new one, but just recently I gave up and let it update. It quit out halfway through, as usual, and went back to the same condition it was at. Nothing works.

This is not like last time, I had to get a Windows 10 system on a usb, and repair my boot loader last time. This time, Windows simply won't do anything. It's currently telling me the only option left is a hard reset.

I have physically tried everything besides a hard reset. I refuse. Why should I lose my personal belongings, when it's out of my control? This is not an issue with anything except Windows. What can be done about this? I am very disappointed in the fact this has ruined my computer, I really hope you can do something about this.

    Having had to reinstall win 10, losing all my files etc, I've now more or less got everything back on my laptop. 

    However, the latest 'update' has slowed things down to such a degree that if I close the lid for any length of time and puts the laptop to sleep, on opening, it won't go into desktop to let me type in my password.. solution? I have to hard shut down, and reboot, then it will let me type in the password. 

    I hope the morons who wrote this 'update' and the equally moronic managers who signed it off reflect on this as they go looking for a job, maybe in breaking things that worked perfectly well before they didn't need to be fixed. MS can maybe cry as several 1000 former windows users go out and buy Macs. 

    What were you thinking? This is a serious question.

    I'm furious!!!

    Unlike the rest of us unsuspecting users, microsoft have known about this problem for weeks by the look of it, so why is it still happening?? My daughter's laptop updated itself today without warning and, boom! No more boot up! Followed advice on techadvisor from a similar issue in January, to make a rescue/recovery usb to boot with, which got me as far as the blue options screen, with the options to reinstall windows, system restore, return to previous version etc etc, but every option i try just says it's encountered a problem and no changes have been made. 

    I'm at a loss!

    Does removing the battery to hard reset, affect a warranty, as this is a new machine, less than a year old?

    Frustratingly, my other daughters identical laptop updated weeks ago, with the only issue being that it wouldn't recognise her windows password, so we had to change it. But hers was otherwise ok, even though it is meant to be identical!

    Considering updates killed my desktop last month and I do not have the money to replace my tower.  I can feel for the original poster. My desktop computer updated and not even three days later it made an audible pop and now will not turn on at all meaning it got hardware damage from updates from Microsoft. You people will not replace or repair a machine so updates should be optional. I used to do tech work and know that if an update over clocks a piece of hardware it can destroy a machine.

    Have you a boot flashdrive? It's what I had to do. Reformat, reinstall everything. Not ideal I agree, but you can rescue the computer. Then get online techie to remote access to sort out your computer to accept update. (It' because of previous build versions). Scroll back on this thread to find my previous posts on this.Good luck.

    Hi Steve, I've tried with a rescue/recovery drive on usb that i created from my other daughter's identical laptop, and it gets to about 30% on the recovery, then goes back to the blue screen saying there was an error recovering the computer and no changes have been made, use troubleshoot to try some other options. I've tried them all. Any idea what else i might be able to try please?
