Windows 10 update broke my computer?

I did update to get at the end a blue screen (is this the new blue screen of death?) telling me to continue to rollback or other options which I went through and nothing worked it would not rollback it would not boot up and when I eventually gave in and reinstalled windows it would not even let me keep me F*****G data.  This was last night I am so angry they have done this to me.  I am now trying to restore my data but this is not an easy task and I'm going to have to sift through so many files I'm not sure how far I'll get before I give up on the whole lot.  Angry beyond belief how dare they do this without a thought or warning. 

What is the update supposed to do anyway?  Probably just lock more things down and mean we have to change all the defaults again!  My pc is less than a year old.  There is no warning that there might be a problem I thought it was a regular update.

I am switching to Linux.

I had the same issue with my laptop when I performed the update in mid May. After a month & a half of having an electronic paperweight on my table, I finally decided between spending well over a couple hundred dollars on reinstall disks for Windows & Office, or downloading Linux Mint onto a USB for free, using my fiancee's laptop. I went ahead with the free Linux Mint option, and let me tell you, its like my laptop is brand new again!!! It is lightning quick, not sluggish like a bloated beluga whale. If you are considering this, I highly recommend it, and not giving Microsoft another dime of our money until they get their head back into the game, and start putting out quality products again...Also, they seriously need to make up for the countless number of people who are out anywhere from $50 on up to thousands of dollars, if they had important files for their jobs that were irretrievable. I seriously smell a class action lawsuit in the making....

That's my plan as well.

I'm going to try it on my desktop first and if that's successful change the three laptops in the house to Linux also.

Any company that has the contempt for their customers that Microsoft has shown through their "upgrade" actions doesn't deserve loyalty.

Here is the fix... Download Linux Mint...It works flawlessly, and makes your computer run ten times faster!!! I had to do that after the May Windows update turned my laptop into an electronic paperweight...I have an Acer Inspire that is 5 yrs old, and it was acting very sluggish with Windows, and now it performs lightning quick!!

I had the same issue after the May update. I lost my install disk, so I was looking at spending hundreds of $$$ including having to repurchase MS Office, and losing all my critical files.

However, I used my fiancee's laptop, and downloaded Linux Mint onto a USB, then accessed the BIOS of my laptop & set it to boot from USB. The Mint worked flawlessly, and I was able to move all of my critical files to my external hard drive, and then complete the install of Mint.  After it was complete, I had to access my BIOS one last time, to set the boot back to hard drive, and it has been smooth sailing ever since!! I will not spend another dime on a MS product again, unless they make things right with me.

Call Microsoft. They are very well aware of the issues (I spent a long time on hold though until I spoke to someone). Google their help number on here. Put the kettle on and wait. Try to be patient, because the agents who you talk to didn't cause the problems, but they're taking the flack for it. One alluded to me (a manager) that at least one of the developers who signed off the update for release would likely be fired. 

The latest update (build 1803) works with some comps and not others depending on the build already installed (1603 too old, as mine had) or 1703, 1709, those two are okay) AND BIOS update (from the comp manufacturer) none of which MS tell you the comp should have first before the latest update. That is the screw up. They make too many assumptions. 

Call them. You might get lucky.
