I totally agree with you. I'm thinking of going back to Windows 7 just to end this recurring nightmare.
Windows 10 update broke my computer?
Hello. I'm quite unhappy with my entire experience. I have had to contact support multiple times because my computer "wasn't on the list" of computers able to run the latest updates. I find this incredibly ironic, as it has 8gb of ram, lots of disk space, and a very nice processor (~2.6ghz). I have had my agents help me as much as they could, and that wasn't the bad part, they did great! For a day... Somehow, even after they went and did the whole thing about delaying updates for 8 months or so, The Windows 10 update installer app downloaded. It has hogged me for the past week, with me having to abort multiple updates, not wanting to lose my pc again. I am a student, and can not afford a new one, but just recently I gave up and let it update. It quit out halfway through, as usual, and went back to the same condition it was at. Nothing works.
This is not like last time, I had to get a Windows 10 system on a usb, and repair my boot loader last time. This time, Windows simply won't do anything. It's currently telling me the only option left is a hard reset.
I have physically tried everything besides a hard reset. I refuse. Why should I lose my personal belongings, when it's out of my control? This is not an issue with anything except Windows. What can be done about this? I am very disappointed in the fact this has ruined my computer, I really hope you can do something about this.

2018-10-26T18:43:06+00:00 I would have to say that Microsoft is probably the WORST SOFTWARE COMPANY EVER! They push out BETA code to their customers and expect us to serve as guinea pigs for them and find their bugs. No wonder they are losing ground to Apple and Linux!

2018-10-22T20:00:50+00:00 6 months after your post...
I've had Win 10 since it was free ( a couple of years), but just the other day I "downgraded" to Win 7 (my original operating system) and I am finding that all the broken stuff in Win 10 has disappeared. All my programs are working great and the computer is so much faster. Haven't found any advantage in Win 10... ever...
FYI, I have
i7 2600 (2nd generation, yeah it's old but...)
2 Tb hard drive
16GB DDR3 Ram
NVIDEA GeForce GTX560Ti (very old, but will be upgrading to a GTX1050Ti soon. Who in the world can afford a 1080 at $800+?)
My advice... go back to Win 7 or 8. Your computer will run better and your apps will actually work.

2018-05-22T13:43:22+00:00 Hello everyone
The news I'm afraid isn't good. If you're being nagged to update win10. DON'T!!!! At least not
Yet. Until you've updated the bios of your computer, which you may find from the computer manufacturer's website.
Even then, there is no gaurantee the win10 update will work. But you have a better chance.
I spent long time on hold after numerous chats with various agents and eventually spoke to a very stressed manager at microsoft yesterday. The facts are these:
Someone screwed up big time with this. The agents you call know this, but it isn't their fault, they're not developers, but they're getting 1000's of calls on this. But it's obvious they can't say too much, they're not happy.
To save your time calling, get someone with a windows computer running 10, to make you a boot drive onto a flash drive. There are lots of videos on YT, how to do it. Boot from that. And go back to the original version. You won't lose your files!!!
Turn off automatic windows updates. MS have some work to do, it wouldn't surprise me if the development team hasn't been fired or at least sent to stand in the corner.
