Windows 10 Home - "Unauthorized changes blocked"

What Andre explained, was the way to disable Controlled Folder Access. That will

surely stop your "Blocked Apps" messages, however, it will also kill your protection

against Ransomware !!

CFA works by restricting certain Apps from altering any of your "Protected

Folders", unless the App is on a "whitelist". When you allow an App to pass through

CFA, that adds it to thewhitelist on your PC. Ransomware, that is not on the whitelist,

is prevented from encrypting your data.

CFA has been bothersome in the past, because it required the user to determine

the complete path of an App, in order add it to the whitelist. Once you are updated

to W10 v1809, that task has been eliminated. You no longer have to search for the

path information. It is provided and applied in a straightforward and easy manner.

When the notification of a Blocked App is presented, you click on it, and you are

taken directly to the "Add an App" routine. Clicking on the + sign, presents access

to a list of all recently blocked Apps. You only have to examine the list, and make

one click on any of the items that you want to allow to pass through CFA.

This is little effort to expend for the protection provided!   Of course, it is up to you,

to allow to pass, only items that you trust.

Until you are on v1809, the complete path of an App can be determined by

examining the Event Viewer, in Windows Defender\Operational. Look at the

properties for any entry with an ID of 1123 or 1127. Those are the blocked

events, and the complete path can be found there.

Somewhat inconvenient, but possible still.

But this will not solve the problem, you just disable the function

Why would core files or services been blocked by core system, this should not be the case, we use this function to disabled un-authorized access to core system files and folders, Windows 10 must recognized its core files

Of course, you are right. And in a perfect world, that would be the case. While

Microsoft does whitelist many Apps, they just can't seem to get them all.

That is the reason they give you the option to whitelist the ones that you use,

that they have not whitelisted yet.

In past versions of W10, allowing Apps to pass through CFA, was very inconvenient.

Microsoft has made that process much easier and simpler in W10 v1809. Please see

my post to Parth, just prior to yours in this thread.

If and when Microsoft makes v1809 available to you, you will see what I mean.

You should see v1809 soon. It has been re-released on a controlled basis.
