Updated computer now Asus PCE AC68 will not work

thank you for the very detailed information. It is crazy enough to meke me believe it could help. However, I alredy sold my AC68 and I am using an Intel AC 9260 w.out troubles. Anyway big thanks!

Same problem here.

I made some investigation on two different computers with the same Asus Wifi card PCE-AC68.

System 1:

Mainboard:  Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3-AM3+

Processor:  AMD Phenom II X6 1075T

System 2

Mainboard:  MSI H97M-E35

Processor:  Intel CPU Core i3-4160 (1150)

Fresh insalled W10 pro 1703, Asus driver installed, both computers have a functioning Wifi card.

Fresh insalled W10 pro 1709, Asus driver installed,

The intel system is okay, on the Amd system the card driver is not starting, code 10.

I have fell into a problem with Windows 10, 1703 ok but when you update the ASUS 6830 that has a wireless card installed will corrupt the Install.

you must uninstall the card and any internet connection until your done (V1809).

Once all is installed then you can plug in the PCIE card that came with the PC, crazy but I had to prove it to myself.

The old card (2011) is not compatible but yet when you run the Windows Installation Wizard it passes all the test.

you will also notice a plays koas with Windows Defender as well.

The only problem I have now after buying a New ASUS AC88 wireless card is that it is dependent on Windows to open up instead of the BIOS.

In case anyone is still having issues, I just got off support with Asus and their recommendation worked:

Update the intel chipset.

The files I got were:

V1828.12.0.1152_consumer_20181130_WHQL

Intel_Chipset_Installation_Utility_WIN10-64_V10.1.17695.8086

Granted, I tried everything under the sun before this, so it might not be as simple as updating the chipset. My problem was that the card would cause Windows to hang during start up. I fixed the master boot record, reinstalled windows about 8 times, tried several pcie slots, tried different versions of the driver, tried locking the pci thing through msconfig, virtually everything. All of this despite that the ac68 is on my motherboard's QVL!

In the end, here's what worked. I have a fresh installation of Windows 10. I downloaded the asus drivers from the website. I downloaded the two zip files above. I ran AsusSetup from the intel chipset zip and SetupME from the WHQL zip. My card works now.

Okay so I ran into this issue, after setting a manual channel of the 5GHz network to 44, my PCE-AC68 could find the network but not connect.

Antennas connected directly to the card rather than to the wired antenna mount. I rolled back my drivers to the ones shipped with the card, no use but the utility worked. Updated drivers to latest, utility doesn't work and Windows still wouldn't let me connect to the network.

So after some nerdraging and google I read somewhere that HDMI cables near wireless antennas can sometimes disrupt the 5GHz signal, never heard that before and was skeptical at best. Changed PCI-E ports to above my graphics card to keep the antennas free of cable interference, no luck.

But then I decided to use the antenna mount, said and done, got it out of the box and placed it on top of my desktop free of wires and anything else that might disrupt the signal.

Lo and behold, I suddenly have a perfect connection to the 5GHz band with latest drivers from ASUS, if you haven't tried the antenna mount already, do it and place it on your desktop where you see fit. It seems that the 5GHz band is way more sensitive than the old 2.4GHz band, especially to poorly isolated cables, in my case a cheap HDMI cable.

I had the same problem, and fixed it by doing this:

1. Navigate to https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/PCEAC68/HelpDesk_Download/ and download the driver for Windows 10. (In my case it was Windows 10 64-bit).
2. Open Device Manager by holding the Windows key and pressing R. I typed in devmgmt.msc and hit enter.
3. Navigate to the yellow warning sign sitting under Network adapters and right-clicked it and selected Update driver.
4. Select Browse my computer for driver software and choose the following path from the downloaded driver: [.....\UT_PCE_AC68_v2143\Driver\WIN10] and click Next. (For example, my full path was D:\UT_PCE_AC68_v2143\Driver\WIN10 but yours might easily be C:\Users[user]\Downloads\UT_PCE_AC68_v2143\Driver\WIN10 where your download was saved).
5. Windows will install the driver correctly. The internet wasn't working for me right now, so I rebooted.
6. Log back in, your internet will hopefully come back on in a few seconds.

(Caveat, you must be connected to the internet over ethernet or save the driver on a separate computer and insert it into your computer with the faulty PCE-AC68 device via usb or cd)

I just tried the solution on clean install of WIndows 10 build 1809 and it did not help: WiFi card is still cannot be installed properly
