I have used MC Digital Image suite 10 on my PC but had to reset my PC. Now I cannot install the program.  I keep getting the error about Internet Explorer 6 and internet tools and cannot install this program on a 64 bit platform.

I have tried all the fixes on the internet including shutting off Internet Explorer through Control Panel, etc.

What do I need to do to install this program?

I don't know if this trick works also with your version of Digital Image Suite ...

Try it!

Tested with Picture It! 7 / 9 / 10 and Digital Image Suite 2006

  • Close all open programs and documents and prepare to install DIS or PI
  • Simply start setup from you original disk

Normally you are prompted by User Account Control to give permission, authorize it.

  • Choose the few options available and go on
  • At some point you will be presented with the usual little error window:

  • Click OK
  • Next you will be presented with the second usual error window:

  • Don't click OK now, instead Logoff Sign out the user

The operation cannot be carried out because of that window waiting for intervention.

  • Wait a few seconds and then click on Cancel, you are returned where you left
  • NOW click OK

The installation will end without errors!!!

Many thanks to Piedro that has discovered it!

I wrote Click, not right click!

Even using Right click, you can select "Shut down or sign out" and then Sign out.

Doing this DO NOT shut down your pc but simply close all the programs relative the currently active user and put you at the login page.

But if you do this in the right moment, should happens what described by my New Guide.

I have 3 PCs/laptops, all Win10 64-bit, all updates current, that run Digital Image 2006 just fine - 2 of these were earlier Win7s that I upgraded to Win10. The 3rd was new purchase 1 yr ago.

I recently purchased new HP laptop and am prohibited from installing Digital Image (same error as this group).

So seems that if you had installed Digital Image before, all is good. If you are trying new install with current Win10, no luck :-(

I have the same problem. Like so many things you have paid for either in Microsoft Hardware or Software it outdated and becomes obsolete in no time. Think before you purchase any Microsoft products in future. The hardware especially Surface products are a disaster in regards to reselling value. A one-year-old product is difficult to sell and if it sells it is with a very large loss. I have in mind starting a class action against Microsoft as to their business behaviour. I purchased Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10 and after the latest one-month-old Windows 10 Pro update the software will no longer load. This has something to do with the 64-bit processing only, I guess. Again, a very good product you have paid for becomes useless. If I own a product regardless of a type, say for instance a book, it cannot be cancelled by the seller. This is against the consumer laws. It is the time that companies such as Microsoft will be taken to Court if they do not follow the consumer laws.  Contact me if you want to be part of the class action against Microsoft (******@gmail.com)
