Windows 10 rollback stuck

I had these issues, and I have fixed it through re-installing through the usb. A day and a half later Windows wants me to update again. Will this cause me the same problems again? Should I uninstall avast first since this has been blamed in alot of places? Just dont want to go through the whole process of fixing it again

Honestly, I don't think it's Avast... I had AVG. That's why I'm a little hesitant myself about updating, for the same reason. The lack of response from Microsoft is getting a little worrisome, and with one of the comments saying the support people over the phone literally said "We won't be able to help you because your laptop isn't compatible," it just makes me doubt even more.  I'm not going to update right away.  I'm going to wait a bit. Until this whole thing is a little more straightened out. 

I had read on another page that its affected avast and avg users, as AVG is part of avast (which I never knew until now). So does seem its something with these systems and windows

Help my option to use other Operating System for Windows rollback and 2 Windows10 gone... I was have that option, i think its because i type bootrec/rebuildbcd on promt...

now only have 1 new "Windows 10 Pro" and 1 blank but after i click that OS got a bootloop in keyboardstuff.. cant get to desktop

Oh boy! That's a tough one. I wish I could remote into your laptop or be there or something, because I feel like all the methods I did with command prompt didn't work for me, and you'll likely have to do something in there in order to get out of this mess.... That being said. I can try to help, but can't guarantee it'll work. But here goes nothing.

Get back into your command prompt through the advanced options.  Honestly, I personally would try running Microsoft's original suggestions and see if that fixes anything, but from the sound of it, that is what you did and it made it worse.  Sooo, instead, we'll do this:

You'll still want to have a USB bootable with Windows 10 on it. So if you don't already have that, make it on another computer.  

Now when that's done, on your broken computer:

Run this command: wmic logicaldisk get name

It will display the name of yours drives.  Then, plug in your external USB and run the command again. Whatever new drive popped up is the name of your external drive.  In the example below, my external drive is named E: .

Now here's the thing, normally I'd say this:

Use command: cd /D (name of your external drive)   [For example, my command would be: cd /D E: ]

Then run setup.exe by typing it and hitting enter.

BUT, I feel like every time I tried that I was meet with an "Access denied". So instead try this:

Type: E:\setup.exe  and press enter. (Except replace E: with the name of your drive.)

Hopefully that doesn't just get hit with another "Access denied", because if it works, the setup application should come up and you'll be good to reinstall it... Otherwise I'll have to come up with something more creative...

Alright, if it still says "Access denied try this:

Type: hostname    and click enter.

This will give you the name of your computer.

If you know your User name, you can skip this part.

If you don't, type: net user

It should show something like this:

Then when you know your typical user name (and hopefully it shows) do this:

Type: runas /user:your_computer_name\administrator_name “E:\setup.exe”

But replace your_computer_name with what you got returned for the hostname command, and administrator_name for your user name. And also change the E: for the correct name of your external USB (if it is not also E:). For example my command would be: 

runas /user:DESKTOP-2MVQI83\ZackJ "E:\setup.exe"

You will also have to put your password in if the command works.  But this might get past the access denied portion of it hopefully.

I've just spent 11 hours trying to fix this issue and finally re-installing Windows 10 and all of my father's software on his laptop.

Your welcome Drew! I took about a little over 24 hours to fix my laptop trying different things.  So figured I could save people some time who were having the same problem as me!  Glad to be of help!

Zack, I've followed all your steps but once I finished installing windows 10, they brought me back to the choose keyboard page. However, when I select "use another operating system" I now have another Windows 10 on Volume 3. In total, I have 4 options; 1 Windows Rollback and 3 Windows 10 on Volume 3. I would appreciate your advise.

I personally didn't have that problem. But from reading other people's posts, I'd suggest doing it another time. Some people have said it's worked for them on their 3rd try... If it doesn't work by the 3rd try, I'd probably try finding a download that is from the build before (1607 I believe... Don't quote me on that haha) and try doing the same thing with that build instead. And after looking it up, current update is 1803, previous was 1709.... Don't ask me why they're ordered like that. haha
