Yes if a tablet only has one Micro USB port... which is both for charging and external drives, then that is an issue.

But if you have an OTG cable adapter for that port then you can connect a flashdrive and maintain charging at the same time.

Yes, you are correct, that is the way that it is supposed to work, and most often does. However, some devices have been having a problem with the twice yearly Feature Updates (upgrade installs of the new version). If a device has only one USB port, and that is also how it charges, then the SD card (or a special USB hub that can charge the device and also transfer data from the additional ports) is the only other option, that is were the problems come in, on some device configurations. This problem has been popping up with each of the last Feature updates, on some devices.

Like I said in an earlier comment post...

You do not need the auto-update for Windows 10 as this seems to be causing the majority of issues.

Just grab yourself a Flashdrive and connect it to a USB outlet, go into your Control Panel, select Windows Updates, search for updates and when it finds them you will have access to your Flashdrive to install the new updates.

You don't need to remove any software!

Yes, 3rd party anti-virus applications can cause problems with Windows 10 updates, particularly Feature Updates (Feature Updates are basically an upgrade type of installation of a new operating system, pretty much just like, for example, upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, these are quite large). The next Feature Update hopefully will/may be better able to handle installation onto the small main drive devices.

I was interested to see your disk management to see if there is an OEM recovery partition present that could be eliminated to increase the available space, as well as some other things. If not, the next step would have been to do what you did or to perform a clean install of Windows 10 version 1709.

thnx for the offer, but after the sixth or seventh attempt I finally managed.

It is necessary to remove all programs, including antivirus, browser, asus-specific software, really everything  and then it works.

After the installation of the update, install all programs again. Takes quite some time.

Now lets hope that future microsoft updates are available in small sizes and can be installed automatically without the tedious proces of first having to uninstall things like browser, antivir, wordprocessing, whatever.
