Recent update causing USB mouse/keyboards to stop working

I have fixed two computers both all-in -ones (one a dell and the other an HP) with this problem by resetting the operating system.  After the operating system update both work with all updates.  The HP had intermittent keyboard functionality and the touchscreen worked while the dell lost the touch screen and also had intermittent keyboard.  Multiple keyboards and mice had intermittent effect on the keyboard and neither had a working mouse until I did an operating system reset.  I have a third computer with this issue that is are regular dell tower XPS 8910 with no touch screen there is no mouse or keyboard that works at all so I will try the command to disable diver signing.  I was going to re-image that one with a USB but held off for the moment.  The two all-in-one computers had PC Matic installed on them.  I suspect that the problem with the update causing this problem is and interaction with driver management. My guess this is causing the issue.  I couldn't get deep enough into the XPS 8910 to see what was on this computer but would not be surprised if it had a similar third party software.  I uninstalled PC matic on the first computer that I saw this on which got the keyboard to work somewhat but did not gain full functionality until I did a reset.

We had the same thing happen to a few machines...If you're running into a BSOD after a system restore, try booting the PC using the "Disable Driver Signing" option (option 7 I believe) and that may boot up the PC. Then you can disable the signing until this is resolved by running this command: bcdedit.exe /set nointegritychecks on

Noted, annoyingly I didn't see your post until I had already done the resets but if I get any more I will certainly try this method!

This working for me too. I tried wired and wireless USB mice and none worked before removing KB4074588.

Exactly I have this keyboard  issue as well. I think Microsoft should issue  a fix. I now have to use a desktop in tablet mode.

For those that are not as technically savvy, I have found something that worked for me.  I was using a wired Dell keyboard which no longer worked.  Also I was using a Microsoft wireless mouse - 3500.  The mouse worked, but the keyboard no longer did.  To sign into the computer I had to enable the onscreen keyboard and then use the tablet mode to use my desktop.  I happened to have a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse set - 5000.   I decided to try it.  Well lo and behold both the mouse works and even stranger the wired Dell keyboard works too.  I didn't unplug it, since it was in a USB port in back of the computer that was hard to get to.  So now I am using the wired Dell keyboard and the wireless 5000 mouse from the set.  I like using a wireless mouse, but prefer a wired keyboard to save on batteries.  Hope this helps until Microsoft fixes this issue.  I had no idea how to fix the issue as described by some of the more knowledgeable people.
