Microsoft Digital Image Suite on Win 10

This solved the problem with easy.... Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas

Microsoft Digital Image is a digital image editing program with full capabilities. I purchased the anniversary edition and used it frequently on my Windows 7 computer. However, after upgraded my PC to Windows 10 64-bit platform, it is not working at all. When I try to install Digital Image, the setup wizard prohibits, because the Internet Explorer 6 is not running. I don’t want to switch to another photo editing program.

* First close all running programs and open documents.

* Double click on the Digital Image Suite setup file from you original disk.

* If the User Account Control promptes you to give permission, just authorize it.

* Select a few options available. When it says “The Windows Update: Internet Explorer and Internet Tools cannot be installed on this computer. This product does not install on 64-bit platforms.” message, click OK button to contunie.

* You will get the second usual error “Setup has detected that Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 installation was not completed. The installation may have been cancelled, or you may not have enough free space on your disk.” Don’t click it.

Return to your desktop, press the Win+X from your keyboard, click on Shut down or sign out > Sign out.

* Window 10 wait for intervention and cannot carry the operation. Wait a few seconds to sign in again, click on Cancel button > OK. Now the installation runs well.

When trying to make an older program work in Windows 10, it is unlikely that it will work as expected unless you upgraded to Windows 10 with the program already installed on your PC. The only workaround that I can suggest is to install the program. and then try to run it in compatibility mode.

Here's how:

1. Right-click on the program, and then select Properties.
2. Go to the Compatibility tab.
3. Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for.
4. Click the drop-down menu, and then select older versions of Windows. Whichever works.
5. Click Apply, and then OK.

Additionally, I suggest that you run the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter.

1. Open Control Panel.
2. Go to Troubleshooting > Programs.
3. Under Programs, click on Program Compatibility Troubleshooter, and then go through the troubleshooter.

Hello. I had the same problem where I couldn't reinstall Windows Digital Image Suite 10 after I wiped my computer clean and installed Windows 10. I have used Digital Image Suite for many years and loved it - I was so frustrated it no longer worked.  When I tried to reinstall Image Suite 10 I got an error message that it isn't compatible with 64 bit - but it had worked on 64 bit in previous versions of Windows..... After searching online I found this information from someone else. I tried it and it worked !!! 

I think this works because it tricks your computer into thinking it is already installed and just modifies it to be compatible with Windows 10.... Here is the info from some other very smart and/or computer savvy person:

Your first sentence is incorrect.

I had the following programs installed in my PC for some years until the Win 10 update of recent months removed them:

Dropbox

DuckCapture

Epson Scan

Epson Scan OCR

Epson Scan PDF extn.

Google Chrome

MS Digital Image Library

MS Digital Image Pro9

MZ Off Home & Student 2007

MyHeritage Family Tree Builder

Plus 26 others that I no longer use but that is my business NOT Microsoft's, I will uninstall them at my leisure.

I too have tried numerous work-arounds with no success. This appears to me to be MS way of dumping our older but still fine programs, which we paid retail prices for at the time, then they will re-introduce them on a lease-hold basis.

That may be OK for big business but many of us are hobby users and we will walk if pushed too far.

I tried to do what you suggested but since it won't even install the program at all I cannot try what you said.  It starts, gets half way and then 12 hours later is not finished installing and I have to cancel the installation. 

Just tried again and got this error: "The Windows Update: Internet Explorer and Internet Tools cannot be installed on this computer.  This product does not install on 64-bit platform."

So I have not been successful. 

I did find the program listed on my pc under program files (x86) and right clicked it and tried to "restore previous versions" but no luck there either since my computer was reset to factory specs.

Guess I'm out of luck in using that program!
