Why would it be necessary to buy a bigger drive when the OP already has a terabyte of disk space?  Things can be rearranged, but we don't know how they can be rearranged without knowing about the layout.

    LOL , NOT, NONSENSE

That is not going to happen. if he wants to shrink D:\ drive and knows how to create all the 4 partitions along with the partition that he already has on D:\ with data on it, well good luck to him.

and then why would anyone with a laptop install windows on an external USB drive and then if they go anywhere, they have to haul that around and have additional power source for the USB drive and then the battery for laptop use is useless if there is no power source available to connect your USB OS drive that needs AC power.

    LOL.

You can disable the hiberfile.sysfor hibernation modethis is known to occupy a big space on C

Disable it through this command in CMD as Admin        powercfg.exe****-h off

turn off the hibernate mode off you will gain some space.

chcek for System Restore point also and delete it then try always to customize it and creat new one periodically

clean up your system using Diskc Cleanup with retaining previous Windows installtions in case something happened you will be able to  fix your system by **recovery in Settings.**good luck
