Windows 10 Spotlight - Strange behavior after Fall Creators Update

Try this:

1- lock screen sets image or presentation

2- windows settings - privacy - background app - select: photo and / or presentation

3- delete the contents of:% USERPROFILE% / AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy \ LocalState \ Assets

4- in the folder:% USERPROFILE% / AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy \ Settings

rename settings.dat to settings.dat.bak

5- restart the PC

6- windows settings - personalization - lock screen - highlights of windows

ps: In the% USERPROFILE% / AppData \ Local \ Packages \ Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy \ LocalState \ Assets folder, you will populate different files that accept images.

Unfortunately that did not work for me... that is one of the first attempts that I have made. as suggested in another thread in another forum.

Anyway, a 3d PC has been fixed now..... according to the procedure that I have mentioned earlier.

So for now 2 remaining PC's to go...

I've tried everything on this thread...every. single. thing.

I even went further than the OP and fully re-installed the Fall Creators update from scratch, wiping all my apps, everything...and still didn't fix the Windows Spotlight issue. My specific issue was that no matter the setting the lock screen image never changed from the default unless I changed the setting to Pic and manually selected one.

Then I stumbled on something stupid...

Do you have PIN setup for your login? I do. And I set as one almost immediately after re-installing (it was there prior to updating originally). As a last ditch effort before completely giving up on the feature, I turned my pin off and went back to my full MS Account password. As soon as I had the PIN removed from my sign-in options, I locked my screen and...boom! Windows Spotlight on the lock screen. Didn't even have to change the lock screen setting to a static picture first. The setting was on Spotlight the whole time. I wonder if Windows Hello has the same effect on this feature...

I've since turned my PIN back on and it appears Windows Spotlight is still working...but I'll wait a few days to make sure the pic changes before committing to that.

I'm also hoping this little bug (and it is a bug if your login feature hampers other features) also fixes my other nagging issue - none of the sync settings feature work for me either. Considering how many seemingly non-related settings in the system appear to affect this and possibly other features, I hope MS addresses it in future patches.

Finally, this has fixed the problem after having everything tried what has been referred to in this thread! I  am struggling with it for more than a month now.

These are the steps that I have made:

1. Turn the background app function on (mentioned before in this thread)
2. Turn off all the unwanted apps in this menu except the weather and settings apps
3. Changed the local account into my Microsoft account
4. Rebooted my PC
5. Changed back from my Microsoft account into my previous local account
6. Reboot, and after that: Spotlight screen (with weather information)!!!

I have made these changes on two of my PC's with success, and I have 3 remaining PC's to work on... Hopefully this procedure will also fix the Spotlight problem on them too.....

I had a feeling that I do not know whether The Evil comes from my  installation or from MS login server and accoount data.  Your experience may suggest that changing MS account could help. I'll try...

2- impostazioni di windows - privacy - app in background - selezionare : foto e/o presentazione

3- cancellare il contenuto di: %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets 

4- nella cartella: %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\Settings

rinominare settings.dat in settings.dat.bak

5- riavviare il pc

6- impostazioni di windows - personalizzazione - schermata di blocco - contenuti in evidenza di windows

ps: nella cartella %USERPROFILE%/AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.ContentDeliveryManager_cw5n1h2txyewy\LocalState\Assets  si popolerà di diversi file che corrispondono alle immagini.
