Face-recognition not working after Windows 10 update 1709

After receiving the Windows upate 1709 (KB4041994) the Face Recognition doesn't allow my Surface Pro 4 to get into Windows. It recognizes me but stays on the login spash screen. I have to switch to a different login option to actually get into Windows.

I have the same problem as many of you.  I had to use my PIN number during initially logon because Face-recognition (hello) wasn't working.  Face-recognition would worked when my computer would go to sleep/hibernate but not if I shut down and re-boot.  I spent the better part of a day reloading drivers and trying all kinds of other things people were suggestion online.  Today I checked out another thread of questioning on this website titled "Windows 10 Creator Update must login twice" not thinking that was my problem at all but read the thread anyway.  The Microsoft rep replied to the login twice question with a suggestion and OMG when I tried it fixed my problem.  Since it sounds like a number of you might have the same problem as I was experiencing I thought I would pass this tip on... maybe it will fix your problem too.

Hi,

If you're having trouble with logging in on your PC twice, then you can try the following steps to remove double login:

  1. Go to Settings, then select Account.
  2. On the left panel, select Sign-in options.
  3. Under Privacy or Confidentiality section, turn off Use my sign in info to automatically finish setting up my device after an update or restart.

After doing so, reboot your PC and see if the same issue will occur.

    I JUST got my laptop back from getting the system reinstalled!  I had lost all my photos and my recognition camera quit working after the last Windows 10 update. Now it has updated again, and my recognition camera is not working. Frustrated!

    PhilppeJeanjean your comment helped. At least now I don't have to double login, but it didn't help with the face recognition. I have noticed that my computer is also having a problem with an update. The last update has not completed and I've tried several times to delete it and it just comes back on and hangs up. When you go into setting and updates it says all that needs to happen is the computer needs to be restarted, but it never finishes the update. If I go back to the previous build will it then want to do the build I'm on and all the updates since?

    My surface book to allowed hello log in. After some surface firmware update. But it also stopped my keypad, scroll pad, USB and pen. I tried power + volume key solution but it did not resolve the matter. Then I tried to restore it pretty firmware update time. That failed and the surface would not boot. Then in trouble shooting options I tried to restore again. This time it asked for encryption key for drive. This was found in my ms account under devices. This time surface was restored and everything worked fine. I then updated it again and the firmware update did not cause any trouble. Thus bit locker encryption creates problems in restoring when you do it through Windows. During start boot it does work. However I am thinking of removing the encryption and segregate the data on another drive from os. Encryption does not allow you to split the drive too.
