The windows 10 fall upgrade 1709 fails after about 45% mark.. Then gives an error message and returns system to 1703

I have tried all the suggestions on my laptop to complete the upgrade to fall creators 1709.  

I have tried the trouble shoot the upgrade (It always fins registry errors after the update...  I run it a couple of times and the second time the registry errors are gone but come back after trying the 1709 update)

I have tried the upgrade by doing the manual update

I have tried resetting all of update... and then trying the update again

I have tried by unplugging the Ethernet cable

I have done a chkdsk c: /f

I have tried Regcure pro (as recommended by Microsoft on a support page - they are a Microsoft partner)

I have tried going back to earlier backups of the laptop..

All end in the same way...

The updates fail after 45% with a old style popup box .. saying windows can not configure one of the system components...

I have tried many options...  but no solution...

I have spent over 80 hours working on this issue...  I really do not want to do a full reinstall of the laptop.... 

Help!!!

    pulled my nvidia out completely, uninstalled from device manager including drivers. unplugged both WD HDD's. failed at 45% again

    my motherboard ASUS Z87-PLUS, pioneer BDRW and samsung evo 840 SSD is all the hardware i have left internally

    externally, razer naga mouse and logitech g510 keyboard.

    i really really hate microsoft right now. especially since you keep reminding me every hour or so to install this stupid update. a nice blue popup that doesnt go away til i click it.

    ok, turns out the nvidia software wont uninstall currently and the gt970 still shows. probably needs to be uninstalled while its plugged in.

    some of the highlighted files iv picked up from those logs are:

    sony ericcson - think its part of sony media package which i use. i used to have a sony mobile.

    synology virtual usb - removed that

    still trying to clean out these files

    One work around, which stops the rebooting..  is the  option in the advanced options of the windows update panel..  You can defer feature updates...  If you pick a big number It will stop trying to put in 1709.. and will just patch 1703... 

    This is not a permanent fix... as we need to do the 1709 and beyond updates..

    I still have some hope that finally Microsoft will do something to help us out...

    Same problem here, Lenovo G500 i3. All drivers are up to date, disabled antivirus, VPNs, network drivers, Graphic Card drivers, Blutooth drivers. Tried all methods for upgrade, followed all recommendations posted in different forums. Did a full test on Hardware components. Still No success. Fails at 45% with samelogs and errors posted here. Why Microsoft does not simply posts a tool to tell us which Driver is cusing the issue?

    Well... I can tell you ... The disable trick did not work for me...

    My laptop still fails at 45%

    I just tried the update again... 

    First I run the troubleshooter

    I deleted most of the devices and let Windows recreate the devices...

    I then did the install using the media site to do the update

    same results....  It fails at 45%

    so frustrating

    I am having the same problem. Read somewhere (can't execute this yet as it is an office laptop and need to finish several things first before trying again), that you should disable on the Device Manager the USB WiFi and also disable your Video Card.

    A few guys couldn't pass the 45% until they did this and then it worked but they could never tell who was the culprit.
