The windows 10 fall upgrade 1709 fails after about 45% mark.. Then gives an error message and returns system to 1703

Have you looked at your logs yet?

Here's an example of what you might see.  I have had to revise my PowerShell script to try to take account of users' unsortable timestamp formats.

Success!

Reloaded all my Files, Apps and Programmes, spent a short while customising things back as they were, and Hey Presto!

Shouldn't have had to resort to this method but at least it worked and I can sop wasting anymore time.

My problem with this path is that I have some software ..  I would need to repurchase as their licence is one use...   I would need to invest at least $300 to reinstall the windows...  So I am stuck!

After wasting days on this, to no avail, I figured that it would actually be less hassle to do a clean install.

I backed up everything, (including Sticky Notes!) and went for it.

Success!

Reloaded all my Files, Apps and Programmes, spent a short while customising things back as they were, and Hey Presto!

Using one drive or drop box post share links into the thread for any of the Panther files.

I do not have one drive or drop box...  I worry about putting this much information on a public drive..

You do have OneDrive.   This is good help.  You could start with  setupact.log  and  setupAPI.dev.log   (or browse them yourself.)
