It's simple.
Open Task Manager and scroll to the bottom.
Right click Windows Explorer and then Restart.
Problem solved.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
since I installed the latest updates to windows 10, the volume icon in system tray no longer works.
The icon IS there in the system tray
hovering over the icon shows the volume level
HOWEVER, when I left click OR right click on the icon, NOTHING happens---it will not open so that I can adjust the volume level
Why do the Windows10 updates do more harm than good?
I routinely keep sound levels low until I want to listen to something---now 1 PC (Win10 home) is stuck on volume 20% and laptop ( Win10 Pro) stuck on volume 63%
How can I fix this?
THANKS

This fixed it the first time. Thank you for showing me this. Why won't people listen when you tell them how to fix something.
I listened and I did that. However, the problem is I have to do this every time I boot my laptop.
The solution is for the session only, not a permanent one.
Tell MS people to listen to this complaint.
I ask one thing - why it is necessary that we have to do 'something' in order to fix something? This complaint has been in the forums for quite some time. Why MICROSOFT will not find a permanent solution in their updates?
It is not necessary to scroll down if the Windows explorer is open. It shows in the Apps section itself on the top.
You are most welcome.
Tok'ra kree!!
Yes, I listened and I did it. It worked perfectly.
Thank you.

You do have to keep scrolling until you get to Windows Explorer on the list. When you right click a menu of actions comes up. Click restart and it is fixed. Not even Microsoft knows this apparently.
