Xbox One S controller causing major performance problems in many games when connected via bluetooth. Need dev attention. Widespread, many examples within.

When connecting the Xbox One S controller via bluetooth, many games suffer performance problems.

This is remedied by plugging it in via usb.

Firmware updates so far have not remedied the problem.

Just a brief anecdotal example before I demonstrate the scope of this problem

Just Cause 3's menu screen is locked to 30fps.

With KB+M: 30fps

XBone S via bluetooth: 22fps

XBone S via usb: 30fps

Now, this issue has come up in many forums over across the internet.

How do we get some dev attention on this issue? It's widespread and affects many games, and seems to be a driver issue.

I've tried updating from the current live release to the most recent insider build, as well as buying a high end bluetooth adapter. The issue persists, and clearly has nothing to do with me, my config, or anything we as users can do.

I've taken a fresh format, installed Trials Fusion(this game is particularly bad, unplayable over bluetooth0, and could immediately see the issue in play.

I've even swapped GPUs, from AMD to nVidia (not in an attempt to fix this, but it rules out display driver related issues)

Does anyone know if there is the same issue with the official Xbox One Wireless Adapter for PC?

I have a usb 4 bluetooth adapter plugged and and whilst my One S controller does connect (and play), I too am getting the performance throttle or lag spikes when using over bluetooth.

    Hardware: i7 9700k @ 4.9ghz (locked), 16gb Vengeance DDR4, RTX 2800ti, ROG Swift 27" 144hz GSync (Enabled) Monitor.

All game in 1440p with all settings maxed, with motion blur turned off where possible.

Games effected by this that I have noticed so far:

WRC 7 - (200fps down to <100 and stuttering frames)

Forza Horizon 4 - (260fps down to < 100fps and laggy control response)

    F1 2017 and F1 2018 - (avg 40-50% lower FPS and laggy controls)

Dirt 2.0 - (140fps down to < 70fps and horrible response time from controls)

Yes, wired connection solves the issue, but I want wireless. I was going to get a 8BitDo wireless adapter (someone on here reported no issue) but I wondered about the official wireless adapter....

    EDIT:

F1 2018appears to be the opposite!!

USB Wired - Australia, quick race, full grid, starting P7, rock solid 175fps for entire lap however, 3 or 4 complete freezes (spikes) per lap. Not nice.

Bluetooth - Restarted race, full grid (identical to before), rock solid 210fps(!!) for entire lap and ZERO freezes (spikes) per lap!

F1 2018 is the BETA dx12 version.. wonder if that has something to do with it? Could the issue here be DX11 and Bluetooth+Xbox One S controller, and DX12 games, handle it better? Going to try same tests with the DX11 version of F1 2018.

WRC 7 is DX11, can't find any docs on what Dirt 2.0... but Forza Horizon 4 uses dx12 I'm sure?

I'm now starting to suspect DXInput as being the issue, with DX12 versions being "better".

Just purchased an official Microsoft wireless adapter for windows, let's see what that does!

    Same issue here.

I can't believe this hasn't been fixed since mid 2017 (and maybe even before that).

I am getting severe FPS Drops (Down to 4 FPS constantly) in many Games that are played with a controller.

    Most issues with:

    Anthem

    Enter the Gungeon

No/no severe issues so far with:

    Resident Evil 2: Remake

Assassins Creed [Insert Random iteration here]

The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit

    Life is Strange 2

    Specs:

    Medion Erazer X7857

    Windows 10 Home Version 1809 (Build 17763.348)

    i7 7700HQ

    GTX 1070

    16GB DDR4 2400MHz

    Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) Driver Version 20.110.0.3 (4th Dec. 2018)

Holding the Homebutton for a couple of seconds to iniate another pairing resolves the issue temporarily.

The only solution for me so far is to connect the Controller via USB cable, as many of you mentioned already.

Since this has so many replies and recommendations: Y U NO FIX DIS M$?

If I wanted to play with a USB-Controller I would've bought one for 5€ on eBay...

    POSSIBLE SOLUTION!!!!

I am using an Xbox One S controller with a gold touch usb bluetooth dongle v4, i was able to fix the issue by switching all my wireless Logitech devices to Logitech's universal usb, disconnecting all bluetooth devices besides the controller from bluetooth and moving the bluetooth dongle to a top usb connection on my PC where it is more exposed.

    Hope this helps!!!

Games tested are Doom 2016 and Metal Gear Solid 5

    UPDATE:

Test with my bluetooth speakers, performance is still good. it is Possible you only need to disconnect your other bluetooth inputs

Getting hit in a BIG way on Forza Horizon 4.

Using XBox 360 wired controller, seeing 80-100 fps.

Using PlayStation 4 controller via Bluetooth, 80-100 fps.

Using XBox One wireless via Bluetooth, 25-40 fps.

    That's just embarrassing!

    Win10 build 17134.523 64bit.

    Ryzen 7 1700X

    AMD Radeon RX 580

    32.0 GB RAM

Intel Wireless Bluetooth driver 19.71.0.2, but I've used other Bluetooth adapters with no improvement.

This system should be able to run ANYTHING.

I suggest sticking with the PS4 controller until somebody fixes the problems with the Xbox One controller
