Hi,
there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.
Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:
Since the problem was OS based, it could be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Razer.
This is nearly a three-year-old bug:

Hi everyone,
With the latest KB4284848 the problem is partially solved. The community and I have tested the build and we can confirm that it fixes most of the freezes.
There are still some problems though. Some freezes left within the Edge browser
and File Explorer. Please post your feedback!

Tweeted again to employees...
14K graphic score with Windows 8.1 not bad, my brother gets 13k running Windows 10, Here's mine running an RX 580, and Windows 10... I wonder what ill get in Windows 8.1...?
https://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/12521160
As a side note: My little bro picked a 17' OMEN yesterday with a GTX 1060.... and well he isn't experiencing freezing like I was on my 1050 TI, the ONLY freeze he gets and triggers the dedicated card is by clicking on the battery icon...
EDIT: NVM hes also freezing for a brief second when he clicks on the folder icon in the taskbar... :/
UPDATE: Turns Out the latest Windows 10 update has more issues not just the nvidia optimus problem:
1: Unpinning/Pinning items to the desktop DOES NOT work and when it does, at a reboot or even re logging, puts everything back to how it was...
2: Start in full screen does NOT work
3: When turning off some privacy settings in Windows to make it a bit more private... under "Feedback & Diagnostics" you cant select the "Never" option... as soon as you switch tabs it puts it back to "Automatic"
How is the battery life on windows 8.1. I might give it a try. Rather be using windows 10 but if 8.1 works best for now I'll install it since I still have have my windows 8.1 flash drive somewhere. Also, I am guessing you are using windows 10 drivers right or are you letting windows take care of them?
i did found solution for my laptop
Installing Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update 1703 Download (Build 15063.0) – Available Editions from http://windowsiso.net/
Also i did blocked all updates from MS via win+R - services.msc
then i did installed all drivers for Intel/nvidia/chipset manually
AND I dont have this lags anymore.
DONT UPDATE TO 1709 OR YOU GET Freeze Problem AGAIN
CLEAN INSTALL Microsoft Windows 10 Creators Update 1703 (Build 15063.0) AND STAY ON IT IF YOU DONT WANNA LAGS!
Its worked for me
Everything is fast and smooth
Just a littile lag on checking battery exactly after boot up.
