Hi, there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze. Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are: Right click on desktop Left click on battery-icon in task-bar Opening Chrome-browser Opening Windows Image Viewer (app + classic Foto viewer) Opening system control panel Provocation any animation on task bar (e.g. thumbnail-preview, ...) The GPU Die is exactly the same as the desktop counterpart(except for the 1070), problem is the GPU clock, Bandwidth, and power draw have been reduced to prevent overheating. The GTX 1050 is the closest performer to the desktop version GTX 1050, but with higher end GTX models the "Gap" between the laptop version and desktop version gets wider.. The difference between the laptop version of the GTX 1060 vs the desktop version is quite wide, that's why the laptop version of the GTX 1070 has MORE cuda cores than the desktop version to prevent that "Gap" from getting larger. Windows 10 a problem? Well, Microsoft says that with Windows 10 you will get a better and improved gaming performance... is it true? Well, YES to a certain point, with Windows 10 you get smother FPS without many frame drops, the Thing is if you compare your hardware like I have with Windows 8.1 and 10... Windows 8.1 will get higher benchmark scores, than Windows 10, not to mention a frame or two more in in Windows 8.1... Hi, I installed build 1703... the Creators update, disabled the updates in general through windows services, installed all drivers from HP site... and seems OK for now.. even though... When I boot, and click on the battery icon, the Freeze appears for a 0.5 sec and after that I didn't notice it... I literally bought this laptop today and I'm still in doubt should I return it tomorrow or not?? I bought HP Pavilion Power 15.. i7 7700HQ, GTX 1050 4GB , 8GB RAM, 128GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD.. On Fall update and all drivers from old to new, both Nvidia and Intel - stuttering is terrible through Windows usage.. I haven't tried any games yet- I will deff now.. On 1703, disabled updates, and all drivers from HP site - only Nvidia are the latest and Intel also - seems OK.. all tough, as i mentioned, on boot, when i initially click on the battery icon, stutter appears for 0.5 sec and after that I haven't see it anywhere on the system... 1703 does not fix the problem. What the hell are you talking about? I have tried all the builds. Stop the ****!

Hi,

The GPU Die is exactly the same as the desktop counterpart(except for the 1070), problem is the GPU clock, Bandwidth, and power draw have been reduced to prevent overheating.

The GTX 1050 is the closest performer to the desktop version GTX 1050, but with higher end GTX models the "Gap" between the laptop version and desktop version gets wider.. The difference between the laptop version of the GTX 1060 vs the desktop version is quite wide, that's why the laptop version of the GTX 1070 has MORE cuda cores than the desktop version to prevent that "Gap" from getting larger.

Windows 10 a problem? Well, Microsoft says that with Windows 10 you will get a better and improved gaming performance... is it true? Well, YES to a certain point, with Windows 10 you get smother FPS without many frame drops, the Thing is if you compare your hardware like I have with Windows 8.1 and 10... Windows 8.1 will get higher benchmark scores, than Windows 10, not to mention a frame or two more in in Windows 8.1...

Example (MSI GT70 GTX 970m)

Win 8.1 3DMark11 = 9752 Graphic Score

Win 10 3DMark11 = 9378 Graphic Score

I bought HP Pavilion Power 15..

i7 7700HQ, GTX 1050 4GB , 8GB RAM, 128GB NVMe SSD + 1TB HDD..

On Fall update and all drivers from old to new, both Nvidia and Intel - stuttering is terrible through Windows usage..

I haven't tried any games yet- I will deff now..

On 1703, disabled updates, and all drivers from HP site - only Nvidia are the latest and Intel also - seems OK..
