Hi,
there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.
Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:
Since the problem was OS based, it could be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Razer.

With the latest KB4284848 the problem is partially solved. The community and I have tested the build and we can confirm that it fixes most of the freezes.
There are still some problems though. Some freezes left within the Edge browser
and File Explorer. Please post your feedback!

I have both drivers intel and nvidia on 8.1, and there are 0 problems plus the battery life is 1.5-2x longer compared to windows 10. On windows 10 with both drivers problems exist, removing dgpu driver and/or disabling it in device manager will fix everything as you say but I dont see a point in that because dgpu will always run and battery will be crap plus temp will rise a bit, I dont need that on my laptop. The thing is hardware is not the problem its software. And I am 100% sure its wddm!
And how exactly do you explain Linux OS'es problem? I am sure that everyone should now get their devices and bring it back to the shop and get their money back! I don't see any sense of this discussion, I paid too much and I don't pay for waiting for stupid fix.
I watched it twice and I did not hear anything mentioned related to this problem...

How do you deal with huge CPU throttling due to Spectre/Meltdown patches being unoptimized for Win 7/8/8.1? I've heard CPU performance plummets on anything that's not running Windows 10. That is, of course, unless you've opted out of the patches.
BTW I was hoping Luke or James would mention this specific issue.. I guess that's a start though.
What linux problem? I never use linux on optimus laptop because nvidia and linux are just not good together. It was like that years ago and it still is!
