Do you have any expectations about when the solution **(**Build 17643) will come to RTM ?
I would say this summer? If not, Fall Creators Update aka RS5 :)

Hi,
there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.
Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:
Since the problem was OS based, it could be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Razer.
This is nearly a three-year-old bug:

Hi everyone,
With the latest KB4284848 the problem is partially solved. The community and I have tested the build and we can confirm that it fixes most of the freezes.
There are still some problems though. Some freezes left within the Edge browser
and File Explorer. Please post your feedback!

Personally, it is not really import for me if DGPU is triggered or not.
The important, is when it is triggered, I expect no freeze or delay in opening the application I wanted.
Totally agree. I the problem is not that the OS is triggering the dGPU, but rather that the freeze or stutter occurs when dGPU kicks in via Windows 10. This does not happen with other apps, for example, AFAIK dGPU start via DirectX12 does not cause freeze (tested via TrayPwrD3 dGPU start, which does not cause freeze or delay or stutter). I hope others can confirm that.
That's why it is important to fix the underlying cause and not patch one app at a time (like batter trigger, display settings trigger, Firefox trigger etc.)
Oh and a little update on Coffee Lake. I got my hands on a Core i7 8750H (HD630) + GTX 1060 laptop with 1803 and it also has freezes. So, this is not a hardware issue as we already know :)

This is exactly what I've been thinking. They're focusing on the numerous little symptoms instead of fixing the root cause. A dGPU call should not result in stutters in the first place, and it seems to me like there's a fundamental issue here with how GPUs are handled. I've written this several times in the thread which I hope MS have noticed.
The latest nVidia GeForce driver (397.64,) that was released recently, does not fix this either.
