[Partially Fixed] Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem

Why do I think it's NVIDIA's problem? The freeze appears only when the dGPU(NVIDIA) is turned from off to on.

At first I thought the dGPU switch is made by the intel chipset but it's made by NVIDIA Optimus, see here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html   they even have a great video: THE BEST NOTEBOOK EXPERIENCE ... wooow!!!

How did Intel solve the problem with the left click, or control panel? Simple they avoided triggering the dGPU, because the intel driver triggered the dGPU like other desktop applications (Chrome, Firefox, etc.)

Microsoft can make a fix for this - same like Intel to avoid triggering the dGPU for desktop applications, but that is beyond stupid. Why should they do that if for example on a 6700HQ + GTX960M the switch is perfect with no freezes, I know this because, as I said, I own both laptops and tested them. There are a lot of desktop applications that need the dGPU, like Adobe Photoshop or Adobe After Effects, not all people who bought this combination use it only for gamming. And the freeze is very annoying when using those applications.

We should also write on NVIDIA's forum, because I think it's their fault. The Drivers belong to NVIDIA, it's their job to make sure that it works with Windows 10.

I am starting to think that this is a hardware problem from NVIDIA and cannot be fix through software, if that is the situation we should get our money back or NVIDIA should recall all laptops and fix them.

There are users with AMD who also have the problem. So, it is not an NVIDIA problem, sorry. I've emailed NVIDIA in the beginning and they are telling the same as Intel: It is up to Microsoft to fix the issue.

And just like Intel, they can't openly point fingers at Microsoft...

I sincerely don't know about AMD, because I didn't test one...did you test one? All I can say is that Windows works perfect for 6700HQ + GTX960M and for 7700HQ + GTX1060 it doesn't, which takes me to think that Intel and NVIDIA is to blame. Their drivers should be optimised for Windows 10, it's simple.

Even so, if it's not NVIDIA's fault, their new Pascal dGPU freezes the system, they should have said: Hey Microsoft let's fix this together, we are looking bad or let's give you some help. Although Windows 10 it's universal, works on a lot of machine combinations, drivers are what it should make it work with Windows. And everyone says: It's not our fault... so I don't believe NVIDIA or Intel, all blame Microsoft for the freeze. The Drivers are not Microsoft's responsibility.

The only way Microsoft is to blame if the switch is made through Windows, but again comes a question, why on 6700HQ + GTX960M the switch is perfect and on the new ones it's not? believe me I have tested the crap out of my two laptops with Optimus State Viewer to notice the switch in a lot of situations.

Also why does NVIDIA Optimus State Viewer works, if the switch is made from Windows? Because the switch is made from Nvidia Optimus. Also you can see here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/optimus_technology.html that they are very proud of their "Technology"

Although I respect you, your hard work till now and your opinion, I will still believe that NVIDIA is to blame here, at least for their laziness in cooperating with windows to fix this. They are looking bad and don't give a crap. Take a look at Intel, although they were lame by closing the thread, at least they have "fixed" something, responded and apologized. Where is NVIDIA?

Having the same issue on my Dell 7577.

Tried almost all the suggestions out there on the Internet, nothing seems to work.

Can we get an ETA on the official fix? It's getting more ridiculous by each passing day.

It is really hard to say who is blame.

   Someone said that it works perfectly on Linux or Mac OS which makes me think that Microsoft owns the fix. But there are a lot more laptops that is not in the list and have i7 7th gen + NVIDIA Pascal on board and work nicely. Otherwise gaming laptop industry would be ruined or fixed already. 

   I'm thinking the problem may be caused by desktop version of dGPU in laptops. There may be some incompatibility or because some kind of power limit in Windows or BIOS.
