[Partially Fixed] Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem

It's been one year that people are complaining. And i forgot to tell u, i went to multiple elecrtonics stores in germany like Saturn and Mediamarkt... and guess what all optimus systems got this issue but they're selling it to clueless anyways. This needs to stop! Return ur laptop if u still can! Boycott them until they put a solution.

Firstly, I'm using hp Omen 15t, 7700HQ + Nvidia 1050 +16gb DDR4 memory, and this issue has been haunting in my laptop for months after windows Fall Creation Update, aka 1709.     

As far as I can tell, this issue got dramatically alleviated, if not totally fixed it, to almost barely visible, after the insider update on last Friday of which the windows version number is 17107.

  I don't highly recommend people to join the windows insider program; typically, for most common users, It's just a highway for MS to collect your private system data and you will never know if someday it is going to against you somewhere. However, if you don't give a big damn about your privacy rights or, in another word, you just feel like all those tech moguls, Google, MS, Apple, Samsung, etc. have already compromised your privacy in a big damn way (at least this is sort of what I feel like ), I suggest that you could possibly try this option. Of course, as I mentioned before, you need to select the button to let MS collectively analyze your data in a pretty sneaky way, but as long as you care less, I can promise this insider update has solved most of the former problems I got on this laptop and runs very smoothly.

I think we have the same laptop more or less (Omen 15, i7 7700HQ with 1050Ti. I joined the Windows Insider program and installed build 17101.RS4 earlier. After setting Explorer.exe on high performance in the new graphic settings menu the problem seemed to be almost solved. Happy times! After updating to 17110.rs4 I had some little freezes every now and then (not as bad as before but still annoying). Also installed the new drivers from Nvidia, not sure which is the culprit.

I have the same computer as you, and I can say that the last version of Nvidia does not solve anything, so that must be the newer version of windows. Hope it get fix!!!!!

It's not about being a bother to fix a big, it's about scale and impact.

From the original context of this thread, and the repro video that was shared, it's a delay in right-clicking a UI item.  The functionality still works, there's just a slight delay.

Is the problem worse than that?  Is there additional context that isn't included in the original post of this thread that highlights a broader issue?

If there are more symptoms of this issue and it's bigger than currently described in the OP, please update/share as appropriate.

Good morning Jason from Microsoft and forum cummunity. 

The reason I’m here is simple. I’m on board with the same problem as described in the first post from June 2017. Right click lag, left click lag, LAG. Yes I am here because of the small constant and such a minor issue as lag.

Please let me make it clear I am not the usual complainer type but I am very aware and familiar with decent customer service. I can’t see any customer service here at all. It’s great to see you are being paid at Microsoft (Jason) for brushing the problems under the carpet all day, assuming that most people coming here are 12 year old snots without the knowledge of how to install a driver. This is shocking level of ignorance on your side to marginalize the problem going on for 6 months plus to desribe it as minor “right click issue” asking rhetorical questions about posting more information about the issue. Jason it’s all here and it looks like your answer is missing most of the information included in the discussion. Did you make an effort to read it through?

Most of us here are for this reason: If I spend $2000+ on my system why do I have work with something that is crippled for months? Most people buying expensive gaming laptops excpect their experience with their systems to be flawless from the moment delivery man drops it at the door. Let me say you are not a part of this experience Jason/Microsoft. “So its broken but it works” attitude is arogant and if I were dealing with you over the counter I would seek the attention of your manager/supervisor. It seems internet still provides some with anonymous mighty overconfidence. 

Its broken. The way your system requests the usage of the gpu during simple tasking is BROKEN. Fix it. There is a useful sentence you can all learn at Microsoft “ We appologize for any incovenience caused. We will work hard with the development team to resolve the issue”
