[Partially Fixed] Intel + NVIDIA Laptop Freeze Problem

I know how you feel bro. I paid 7000 TRY for my laptop! That is like living in the US and paying 5000 USD for a laptop, believe me!

This problem can be solved. It is software related! As per NVIDIA's statement:

On Windows 10, the laptop is using MSHybrid and managed by the OS.

It is now up to Microsoft to redirect all the desktop 2D/3D calls to iGPU instead of dGPU. Simple as that. The only lag we will experience is when launching a game and this is very acceptable as it takes time for the games to load and activate the dGPU.

For those living in the US, please do take an aciton and file a lawsuit.

April Update

OK folks, we are back at Microsoft Forums. What happened in the meantime? Well, Intel investigated the issue and they tried their best to fix it. But since they do not code the operating system, they were not able to fully fix the issue.

They released the latest driver with the right click freeze fix which can be found above. After that, they have realised that Microsoft owns fixing the issue. But those companies can not point the fingers at each other that easy. It was the same for NVIDIA. I do not have the right to disclose internal e-mails but both Intel and NVIDIA is pointing fingers at Microsoft.

Thank you for your patience while we investigated this further. I understand the frustrations caused by this issue and apologize for the inconvenience it may be bringing you. By now, most of you have installed our latest graphics driver (15.65.5.4982) and seen the right-click desktop issue resolved (and some other right-click stutters as well).

After implementing the code change, we noticed there were some remaining right-click stutters happening in various areas of the OS experienceand that's what we've been investigating until now; we wanted to be very clear if we were still contributing to them. We've now concluded that we are not, we're only in the stack 1 millisecond which is acceptable and the remaining time is from other parties and the three others in the stack, to the best of my knowledge are aware, investigating, and treating this with high priority.

This concludes Intel's investigation so I'm now considering this thread closed, though Intel will remain in communication with the other parties to assist in any way we can should they desire.

Firstly, I'm using hp Omen 15t, 7700HQ + Nvidia 1050 +16gb DDR4 memory, and this issue has been haunting in my laptop for months after windows Fall Creation Update, aka 1709.     

As far as I can tell, this issue got dramatically alleviated, if not totally fixed it, to almost barely visible, after the insider update on last Friday of which the windows version number is 17107.

  I don't highly recommend people to join the windows insider program; typically, for most common users, It's just a highway for MS to collect your private system data and you will never know if someday it is going to against you somewhere. However, if you don't give a big damn about your privacy rights or, in another word, you just feel like all those tech moguls, Google, MS, Apple, Samsung, etc. have already compromised your privacy in a big damn way (at least this is sort of what I feel like ), I suggest that you could possibly try this option. Of course, as I mentioned before, you need to select the button to let MS collectively analyze your data in a pretty sneaky way, but as long as you care less, I can promise this insider update has solved most of the former problems I got on this laptop and runs very smoothly.

I think we have the same laptop more or less (Omen 15, i7 7700HQ with 1050Ti. I joined the Windows Insider program and installed build 17101.RS4 earlier. After setting Explorer.exe on high performance in the new graphic settings menu the problem seemed to be almost solved. Happy times! After updating to 17110.rs4 I had some little freezes every now and then (not as bad as before but still annoying). Also installed the new drivers from Nvidia, not sure which is the culprit.
