Hi,
there is a problem with laptops which have Intel iGPU + GTX 1050/1050Ti/1060/1070. The problem is whenever you perform some action on the OS, discrete GPU is triggered and it causes a 0.5s freeze.
Some actions, which causes the dGPU to wake up and lock up the whole system for about 0,5 seconds are:
Since the problem was OS based, it could be found on all laptop brands: ASUS, Acer, Clevo, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, MSI, Razer.

With the latest KB4284848 the problem is partially solved. The community and I have tested the build and we can confirm that it fixes most of the freezes.
There are still some problems though. Some freezes left within the Edge browser
and File Explorer. Please post your feedback!

Hey guys so I found my own personal fix for the problem. I reverted the Windows 10 version all the way back to 1607 and reinstalled the Nvidia driver provided by the manufacturer and now its much smoother. Will keep testing though. My PC is a Lenovo Y720 with the i7 7700HQ and a GTX 1060
I think your laptop is "wired" a lot differently than our optimus laptops. I think your dgpu is seen as an external gpu (comparable to those external thunderbolt graphics boxes) so it's maybe a bandwidth issue; anyways, your symptoms are a bit beyond what a fix for our problem would solve (stutter when starting certain apps, mouse cursor freeze, related audio freeze, etc.)
Try some of this - play with the laptop plugged in, you should see a world of difference in framerates, maybe even see stutters disappear, make sure the games you're playing are actually running on your dedicated 1060, close all other apps before starting a game, lower the graphics settings considerably, make sure the games you're playing are in full screen mode, delete nvidia and or intel graphics drivers, reinstall them, not necessarily the latest drivers. Also, are these machines upgradeable? It could just be insufficient ram, 8gb is kinda almost, but not really ok these days, preferably you want 16 to be sure it's not insufficient memory. Also, a clean windows install like in the days of yore might also put your machine back on track. windows is so huge these days that the purely statistical chance of some piece of essential code becoming corrupted is so much higher.
Also check temperatures, make sure the vents are not blocked and also, get real, don't expect a mobile 1060 (especially in a super thin tabletty kind of laptop) to be super fluid if you're not lowering graphics with some aplomb. Fallout 4 is poorly optimized, would stutter even on 1080ti in certain circumstances, so lower lighting and shadows a lot, Witcher 3, you also want to take a ton of settings down, plus this one tends to overheat your laptop consistently more than F4, even when not much is happening on screen, even at lower graphics detail. But definitely, as long as you play within reasonable settings and plugged in, frequent stuttering should not occur.
So to conclude and keep it relatively on topic, no, persistent gaming stuttering is not the same as our momentary app/settings initiation stutters and freezes, so I wouldn't expect a potential fix for our problem to also solve your problem.

Can't wait! Same issue here. Could this be also what's causing my Surface Book 2 in-game microstutter? I have the reverse issue on SB2. EXCELLENT desktop / everyday use, but the games run poorly for a GTX1060 with that CPU. I get microstutters galore on games like Witcher 3, Fallout 4, and The Division, and worse, the battery drains incessantly during gaming sessions :(. I know the Battery is hardware, but if the microstutters could be fixed by this update, I'd be okay with that.
