Yesterday the game worked fine, but now today on July 7th when I launch the game to play, I get the error message saying "check your account" when my account is fine, so I tried to restart the PC and didn't worked, then when I uninstall the game to reinstall, I can't reinstall it because it keeps giving me the same error message with this error code: 0x803F8001. I even runned wsreset.exe to clear the cache, restore the Windows store to default and restarted the PC again, but nothing worked. I can install other apps and games with no problem.

Any help would be appreciated, please.

the main Problem is the store and the account - simply get a new ms account for tempoary download and use your own account after download to start an Play game ... have fun ... best greetz eddl69

For more information on this issue you can check out: https://forum.gameloft.com/viewtopic.php?f=1908&t=509070&hilit=0x803f8001

Basically the fix for a windows store issue is to uninstall the game within your current account, create a new local account, download the game into that new account, run it till you get to the menu, exit that new account and go to your old account, re-install the game and it should pick up your cloud data.

From the above thread this almost sounds like a common fix for MS account issues.

Since this is happening in multiple games from multiple vendors my WAG is that the last MS update made a change that wasn't passed down to the app developers. So when a new version of the game came along it was no longer compatible with how MS is doing its accounts within the store.  All it would take is MS adding an extra byte into the DB record that stores the account information.

Note: GL updated their game on the 7th

QUESTION: To confirm my WAG, was any of the other games that have an issue recently updated (between MS last update and the date it stopped working)?

Did the other games also fail on the 7th or did they fail at a different date?

But, the last 2 updates from GL shows that there is very poor communication between MS and its app vendors and that GL's needs to do better QA testing.  They should be working side-by-side to ensure 100% compatibility.  There is no excuse for either company for not doing this. We are their customers, We pay their bills.   How much time did each of us spend trying to correct their issue? If MS and GL was honest they would have immediately responded to this thread and gave us a detailed solution.  Instead both GL and MS played the blame game instead of accepting responsibility for their actions.  People make mistakes, emails are lost, that is forgivable,  but not accepting responsibility for the issue is not.

    Hi,

Pal, it ain't happening for Windows users in general, much less developers. Ever since these 'rollups' started and became basically standard last fall I think we've all been left on our own to guess and maybe remove an update to compare the behavior or some other Sherlock Holmesian thing.

It's no way to run any software company, MS or GL or whomever. When you can't go through individual fixes and pin one down it's not helpful to the people that might know what to do.

And before we go and skewer GL, remember that it would seem that they too were in the dark as much as you and I. There is no such thing as 100% compatibility.  No two computers will be alike from the moment the person takes them from the box. Different parts, different software, different IP addresses...as twins as not really 'identical' because they are distinct personalities.

So we shelve anger and just say, well darn, and get on with the next eventual and guaranteed problem.

Excuses, so far i know of 3 different games from 3 different vendors got broken after a Microsoft update: asphalt 8, 2020 my home, and backgammon pro, so in what world this is not Microsoft's fault do you think that the 3 vendors fabricated a conspiracy to break their games and piss off thousands of users? Ha!

Of course not. But it's also probable that some of you don't use the same version of 10 as others and there are other problems in IE that are possibly associated with a recent rollup update IMO. 'Rollup' means they just send them out as one single update and not several. I've never seen the point of this as it's bound to cause troubles for some or a lot of people and becomes harder to diagnose.

In the past Windows users could find a buggy update through the process of elimination. Now it's all or nothing. This doesn't do much to protect anybody. I also noticed that for several months MS was putting the same updates out over and over to replace previously replaced replacements. So I can't see the point of a rollup.

I'm also not a 'gamer' but I do understand that it's really annoying when you invest time, effort and money maybe into enjoying yourself and BAM. It doesn't make a 50+ person like me happy for other things either.

So Gameloft suggested you do X, why not see if it solves any other problems for the games they didn't make?

I have to guess and go from there as anybody would with little information. Nobody is psychic. Not even Miss Cleo (and she's gone).
