Windows 10 apps won't open fully on first try - have to close and reopen for them to work

Windows Apps such as the Windows Store, Calculator app, Skype app, and Mail app usually do not open fully on the first try. The app window will show up, but the functions are not available. I will only see the logo of the app in the center of the solid theme color.

However, if I close the window and reopen the app, it will work fine.

Does anyone know how to fix this so that an app will open normally the first time?

(I have attached a picture of the Calculator app to demonstrate the problem.)

I've attached a screenshot of the version of windows I'm running...is it the same as yours?

maybe you could try doing the following if changing the power plans isn't working for you anymore.

    1. delete all power plans and create a new one. (I know it isn't working but just do it once more)
    2. open command prompt as admin and type the following powercfg.exe /hibernate off

what I've noticed is that turning off hibernation seemed to have solved all the problems. It worked for me and hopefully it'll work for you too! I haven't had this problem since I used @Xittenn's solution and also disabled hibernate.

also just to be sure that it isn't because of some broken registry files or something just run a proper clean up as well. I would recommend using IoBits Advanced SystemCare....not sure if that's what it's called but if you google it I'm sure you'll find the right one.

have to paste the clipboard off of access into notepad or word, and then copy it again and paste it into edge.  I've posted the issue with microsoft. they haven't fixed it in the last year. die hard ms fan coder, but I see no hope in getting either of these issues fixed in good time.

any chance you could share your power settings with me ? I tried creating a new plan too but the problem still persists...

p.s. did you have hibernate enabled before? I have a feeling this has something to do with the hibernate option as that is something I remember playing with recently...been facing this problem for the last couple of days. Tia

I have had the same problem for about three months now. I did a complete reinstall from clean media for other reasons. it made it worse. it was on a different hdd. trouble shooter identifies no problems.

I have the absolute same problem, in addition, i'm experiencing this issue when i open the "settings" app of windows 10 as well. I just had a fresh setup of windows 10, so i doubt this is due to any corrupted file.
