Windows phone discontinued?

I agree Charles. Having the same issues except no bugs yet. But one of the game systems are abandoning Windows phone and allowing existing customers the opportunity to transfer their existing game level to PC. Not a good sign. Last year many cell phone company stopped carrying and selling Windows phones like Cricket which is owned by AT&T. AT&T so far as i know has not as yet done this. So which wadi we go? I never liked android. Two years and they are useless junk. No wonder Americans don't build them here.

Web browsing on Edge is terrible. Very few websites even work.

Edge finally is ok now, for me, on desktop & mobile.

I originally bought a Nokia 635 and upgraded to a 650 when Windows 10 came out. I was considering a 950xl with dual sim and continuum but now I'm getting mixed messages on the direction this is going. I ruled out iPhone long ago as I watched then and continue to today customers waiting in line for hours after new updates crash their Phones and if you live far from a service center tough. IPad minis are fine but not a phone. Surface Pro? Maybe. It seems to be a combo smart phone/laptop. But i can't do anything until i know. Too bad they are not a privately owned Enterprise instead of a corporation. Corporations are just too slow to respond 

Here's where I am in regards to MOBILE devices:

1.)  Microsoft........is NOT going to make them anymore.

2.). Apple.....there are only TWO locations in the State of Oklahoma.

3.). Google/Android.......it is reported that Google/Alphabet is CORRUPT & working with the CIA.

Please, tell me where my logic is wrong.

I have a 640XL, and previously, a 1020, and about three years experience with Windows phones.

The Edge browser is a shipwreck - and from the responses here, I am not alone in my frustration. The constant restarts since one of the recent updates made it unusable. I found that for some reason, setting the text size to minimum (Settings, System, Display, Size of text) greatly reduces the frequency of page resets. However, you need a magnifying glass to read anything on the phone.

Cortana has lately become unusable. It usually crashes back to the Start page after a website is opened. I have tried various settings, including shutting down all of the cards and notifications without success. I would disable it if I could.

The Camera has improved - it used to crash, or hung on saving. I turned off all the enhanced settings including HDR and living images, and that seems to have helped.

The Maps/Drive function was once a plus. I navigated all around Britain in 2016 with downloaded maps. However, a trip to the USA in 2017 was severely marred by the navigator crashing constantly. This is exciting when driving on US freeways with their cryptic signage and cheap ramp safety design standards. Maps is working better back in Australia. Who knows why? (By the way, do US car owners in major cities live in their cars rather than fixed housing? Freeways around Washington and LA were both still full of cars at 1 am. We speculated that one person drives while another sleeps in the back. Just joking)

I really like the phones for their user interface. The tiles make the start screen much more informative than Apple or Android phones. It would be even better if there was an update allowing a larger tile size, or adjustable sizes.

The phone's integration with, and auto saving of photos in particular, to OneDrive is handy.

Does anyone know what happened to the promised capability to seamlessly use Google and Apple apps? Was that a none core promise, or fake news to sell the phones?

In summary, I adopted Windows phones because they were supposed to be designed for and optimised for corporate and business use, with some innovative business apps. Sadly, that hasn't happened, and Microsoft's executives do not seem to have had any vision to differentiate the Windows phone from competitors.

The constant OS upgrades seem to make the phones perform worse or make no apparent difference. Is anyone in charge of software release approval and upgrade cost/benefit performance? Is anyone at Microsoft at Board level tasked with improving the market share of Windows phones? It wouldn't be hard to do better.

I would love to see somebody with a focus on quality control of software, and an understanding of business customer strategy, in charge of Windows phone development and marketing.

Can anyone recommend a mid range Android phone? The Nokia 6 looks good value for money.
