Windows phone discontinued?

Come the time when my Windows Phone (Nokia) I purchased years ago stops working, I will purchase a phone with the, Android OS.  I will never buy an iPhone. 

Unfortunately, I'll need to retire my Lumia 950XL in the coming weeks. I'm still researching the transition. However, as we both are apparently coming from long experience with Windows Phone, I would like to know what makes iPhone a non-starter for you? My apologies if you went into this in detail earlier in this thread or another.

In my case, most of my family has been using iPhone's for years, so it has to be under consideration for me.

I know it's been eleven months since last post, but I think it's time to get back on the podium to talk about this again. It's now June 2019, and I still don't if Windows Phone is still out there, and if it is, I would be surprised as everyone saying that they'll discontinue other things, such as the Xbox, which actually has been proven a success. But either way, no matter if Windows Phone gets discontinued or not, I'll still use the user-friendly Android.

But the Surface hardware line hasn't made a dime. In order to be even in a mobile conversation, a platform must have top-notch apps and hardware. Microsoft couldn't do either before, so why would third parties write apps? I can think of a few that would laugh Microsoft out the door

Great response. I agree. I have the 650XL to this day. It works for me because I have little interest in playing games, and watching movies, tv etc on any mobile device, EVER! I use, Cortana and she is Awesome! HoloLens.....hmmmm.
