windows phone 8.1 facebook messenger "waiting for network error"

This error appeared on my Lumia 1020 and Lumia 630 on the same day. I open the messenger app and it just sits in a "waiting for network" state.

It goes without saying that I haven't changed anything on the phones, and it is a huge coincidence if this happened to two phones at the same time.

Facebook have not helped. Anybody else seen this error and do you have a fix?

I upgraded my phone to WIN 10 and after that, there was avaiable a new version of facebook and messenger for WIN 10 on store and it works perfectly. So people, upgrade your phones then download the W10 versions of apps from store and enjoy your phone 🙂

    Hello,

    Facebook messenger is no more supported with windows 8 or 8.1 

    Only option is to upgrade to Windows 10

    i downgraded my phone from wp10 to wp8.1 just because of the look and feel of wp10 i dont like the ui of w10, now w10 is also giving us problems, force us to upgrade the version, even I don't want to do so...
