In Windows Defender settings the options for "check apps and files" are greyed out.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am running Windows 10 Pro X64, Version 1703, OS Build 15063.296

With all due respect but I did that a long time ago already, but to no avail.

So what is the point of doing it again.

Bump, I have this same issue - never installed any anti-virus software nor had any prior issues. I've kept my system up-to-date, ran SFC and did all troubleshooting steps in this thread to no avail.

If I get told to restart my computer one more time, I will lose my sanity.

"This setting is managed by your administrator", but I am the administrator...

    Thanks

It seems this is going to be a never ending story. MS does not respond so until when do we have to wait until a proper answer will be given?

    Thanks

I am encountering the same issue and I have tried everything that has been suggested in this thread. The problem is not fixed. Microsoft, can we have some real tech guys instead of these kids, please?
