Windows 10 SmartScreen- "check apps and files" options greyed out

In Windows Defender settings the options for "check apps and files" are greyed out.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am running Windows 10 Pro X64, Version 1703, OS Build 15063.296

    same issue with me. now after Fall update it says " this setting is managed by your administrator " . What does it mean ? I am only the administrator. Where can we change this setting ? No idea. Microsoft should tell us about it as now at least we got a hint to the issue.

    I also activated the default administrator account but the same problem exists there.

    I am under the impression, that MS does not prioritize issues like this since they haven't come up with a solution or acceptable explanation.

    As per to day I deactivated Windows Defender completely and bought a license for an other antivirus  software which is working fine and might be even better than Windows Defender.

    Lost chance MS.

    I have just installed the Fall Update in the hope that might resolve this issue.

    Unfortunately is does not.

    The only change is that in addition to the options being greyed out I now also get "this setting is managed by your administrator".

    Needless to say I am the administrator.
