2018-01-23T17:22:32+00:00 Sure but at the moment the root cause seems to be unknown. To me, it looks like an OS side problem on some shared components at silverlight level.
Debating it here will not resolve anything, writing to Whatsapp will. Have you done that in the meantime ?
I did and got no answer.
Nevertheless there are several apps not working since the last OS update. Even parts from MS itself. So whom should I address?
It's an OS problem and MS is responsible for that.
At least I would expect a comment from MS here, wether they are responsible for this mess or not and an advice what to do.
But as they did shutdown Windows Mobile I believe there is only one poor guy left in the cellar who has to do all the work on this.
Let's pray he fixes the problem.
Otherwise the switch over to Android or IOS has to occur earlier then I thought.

2018-01-23T20:18:19+00:00 I am sorry to hear :(
You did a full Device Recovery or just a Reset Phone?
It's been more than 72 hours and all Apps are still working here, running latest build 15254.158

2018-01-23T20:23:28+00:00 I used windows device recovery tool and reinstalled everything. WhatsApp is working fine, now. I also see there are a few older apps that I had on my phone are not available anymore.
It took about six hours for me to reinstall everything. The install takes time because it is updating from your original OS version to the current version.
A few ways to make it go faster is to remember that every time you upgrade your apps will need to upgrade also. Go to the store app after the install and cancel all the app upgrades until you finish all the OS upgrades. It may seem like a lot of work but it is faster to cancel them than to let them install.
Also, earlier versions of "Windows insider program" is an app that needs to be installed. Each time you update, make sure Windows insider preview builds are set to "FAST". Once you get the most recent update then you can change the setting.
Good luck

2018-01-23T20:23:42+00:00 Full device recovery... twice! It worked for some time but then it's stuck again. Randomly it comes back working smoothly, then goes stuck again many times during a week. This is happeninh since last insider update and I think it's not strictly related to whatsapp.
