I just installed the WordPress app but it will not start because it says the MSVCP140.dll is missing.

Where can I get its replacement?

Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ missing system files. Try the troubleshooting steps below and check if it helps.

**Step 1:**I suggest you to download and install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 and check if it resolves the issue.

**Step 2:**Also, I suggest you to run SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files. If a Windows Resource Protection (WRP) file is missing or is corrupted, Windows may not behave as expected.

Follow the below steps:

  1. Right click on the Start button, click on Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit Enter.
  3. After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

    hello I have got the same error and i have solved it in my laptop.

    Just need to follow some easy steps and got solution.

    download the missing dll file from here.

    ** 32B-Bit Windows ** -Copy MSVCP140.dll (64-Bit) and Paste into:: C:/Windows/System32 ** 64-Bit Windows ** -Copy MSVCP140.dll (64-Bit) and Paste into: C:/Windows/System32 -Copy MSVCP140.dll (64-Bit) and Paste into: C:/Windows/SYSWOW64 100% work.

    It's one of the vc_redist.x86.exe or vc_redist.x64.exe files listed at that link.

    Recommend starting with the 2015 version, but it depends on which version WordPress used to develop their app.  I would start with the 2015 version, but if that doesn't work, just install each one from each year.  Doesn't take long.

    sfc /scannow has NEVER found an issue with a corrupted/missing MSVCP140.dll even though this has been the issue multiple times for me.
