Total time is wrong for Microsoft Solitaire Event Challenges

I checked the time I had with one challenge remaining and I had 1:44 to finish the challenge and take over first place ahead of every other player.  I finished the challenge in 1:19, but I was shown as coming in second place - 2 seconds behind the same time that I had just looked at.  What a crock!  I have also noticed that as you progress during the challenge, it will hold the scores back for some of the other players allowing your score total to surpass them, then all of a sudden it shows that they completed 9 or 10 challenges in 30 or so minutes when it was no there just 2 minutes earlier.

Today I got 9:45:35 for solving the 20 games of the event, thats impossible. Of course that what happened was that I started a game and then I had to close the game on a rush to attend to something urgent. I returned to solitaire 8 hours later... guess what happened...

I once had a similar issue when I was on an airport and had to board the plane and on a rush closed the laptop (it entered hibernation), when I resumed the computer... the game was still counting the time, so the specific challenge had a terrible time.

I have repeatedly had the same experience and it just happened again!  It is so infuriating!

I was playing today's Tournament and was one game from completing it.  I suddenly had to stop playing because of a household problem.  I shutdown the game and come back later.  I checked the time and it says I have been playing for over 9 hours!  Of course, I hadn't.

People keep posting this problem but there appears to be no solution.  It just ruins the game for you when this happens.

I did some investigation and noticed one interesting thing.  I shut down the game then go to Task Manager.  It still shows the game as running even when I have it completely closed!  So now I also kill the Microsoft Solitaire task.  That seemed to take care of the issue AND I did not do that today.  Is that why I get 9 hours?  Some background process that does not quit?

I do not know if this is a solution - i just mention my observation.  For all I know, it is installing updates.  If someone from Microsoft has another explanation, I would like to hear it.

I had the same problem today. Logged off, shut the computer down, I didn't even have a game open when I left.

When I returned about 5:45 hours later I was on 54 minutes with 2 games left to play and the current leader on 1:18. I played both the last 2 games well within the time that I needed to win the group but the time that the game gave me was 6:47:24... ie the timer had kept running even though I was logged off and didn't even have an open game!

I have also noticed that since the last Windows update, the timer running on the screen has been running slow. This is particularly noticeable when playing the timed version of Pyramid, where my scores are now consistently to high because it gives me too much time.

It seems to me to keep counting the time if I close down the game after failing on one of the challenges. If I succeed and close down there are no issues, If I fail on one (and then stop because, you know, work) and close bang 10+ hours like today.

So usually I only go as far as hard and then stop if I have to stop playing because of outside factors.

No  - I often play some challenges before bed and then finish the event the next day. I always make sure I complete the challenge successfully before I close down the game and my PC. Then when I complete the challenges the next day it will tally the total time between the first and last challenge of the event as opposed to the total time of the individual challenges. It's a bug.
