Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Lost Worlds

Hello All,

Recently, I have had troubles with my Minecraft Windows 10 Edition freezing up every 20 or so minutes. Since this was a huge nuisance, I contacted Microsoft support and they told me to do some things, including uninstalling Minecraft W10E. I asked the person twice to make sure my worlds would not be erased, and they said that they would not. I come to find out that after uninstalling it and reinstalling it, my worlds, my skin, and my server saves were gone. Is there any way that I could retrieve those lost worlds? I am not concerned about the skin or the server saves, but I am the worlds. Please tell me what I need to do if it is possible to get my worlds back again.

Thank you.

Hi Harry,

To better help you with your concern about the missing world in the game Minecraft, we recommend that you follow the steps below:

How to recover missing Minecraft world:

  1. Click the start button and search %appdata%.
  2. Find and enter the .minecraft folder.
  3. Find the saves folder and right-click it, there should be an option called restore previous versions.

If the issue persists after doing the steps provided above, we recommend that you submit a request regarding this matter on this link.

Keep us posted.

Wilfred mac that is not helpful.

minecraft has two main versions bedrock and java.

they are VERY different and those steps only apply to the java edition.

I personally would also like to know how to load backups for bedrock as well.

I experienced this same issue.  You're hosed.  I realize this was back in January and it's now December as I am replying, but for anyone else that might find this, you're hosed.  If you remove the game, back up your worlds FIRST, or they are gone forever.

I was told the same thing by the Microsoft people - "No it won't erase your saved worlds."  They were wrong.  Very, very wrong.  It sucked, but lesson learned as I now back up any worlds that I don't want to see get nuked by stray Microsoft happenings...
