Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Lost Worlds

Hello All,

Recently, I have had troubles with my Minecraft Windows 10 Edition freezing up every 20 or so minutes. Since this was a huge nuisance, I contacted Microsoft support and they told me to do some things, including uninstalling Minecraft W10E. I asked the person twice to make sure my worlds would not be erased, and they said that they would not. I come to find out that after uninstalling it and reinstalling it, my worlds, my skin, and my server saves were gone. Is there any way that I could retrieve those lost worlds? I am not concerned about the skin or the server saves, but I am the worlds. Please tell me what I need to do if it is possible to get my worlds back again.

Thank you.

Hi Harry,

To better help you with your concern about the missing world in the game Minecraft, we recommend that you follow the steps below:

How to recover missing Minecraft world:

  1. Click the start button and search %appdata%.
  2. Find and enter the .minecraft folder.
  3. Find the saves folder and right-click it, there should be an option called restore previous versions.

If the issue persists after doing the steps provided above, we recommend that you submit a request regarding this matter on this link.

Keep us posted.

This has not worked for me. Nothing is in the "previous versions" tab. Is there any other way to recover a world, am I doing something wrong or should I just wait? I have followed your and YouTube's instructions but nothing has worked. Please reply fast. Thanks.

Hi, best thing I can recommend is first to find the folder of your lost world and back it up (i.e., copy it to another safe location like the Desktop or somewhere where you can keep a "good" copy ("good" being relative since the world doesn't work).  At least you'll have a pristine copy in case your experimentation goes wrong.

Now that you've done that, you can try a few different things.  First, I believe the corruption most likely lies in the level.dat and level.dat_old files (perhaps not this last one, but including it just in case).  I just ran a little test where I made a copy of my main world.  Then, I quit and created a brand new world and immediately saved and quit.  I then copied the brand new world "level.dat" and "level.dat_old" files into the copy of my main world and started that game.  It ran and other than the name of the world changing, it seemed to work.  So you might try that.

I tried another methods after losing my safe due to a windows crash, but only this one worked for me at all. Thanks dude! You saved me!

    I HAVE FIGURED IT OUT!

I lost my world called Grand View City after my internet died. I saved and leftthe game after being disconnected from Xbox live. I restarted my PC and I logged back into Minecraft Bedrock. I then noticed that my City was gone.

After many attempts I figured out a way to get my old deleted/ corrupted worlds that wasn't on my list of worlds to appear.

I created a new world, I made the new world have the same settings as my world that got deleted/ corrupted. I logged into the New World (which is named Grand View City) and I took the "level.dat" and "level.dat_old" and dragged them to my desktop.

I then got my original Grand View City level.dat and level.dat_old and dragged them into the New World (The New Grand View City) (I also took the title.txt from my original level and replaced it with the New Worlds title.txt

Its confusing, but this really consists of just drag, drop and replace.

if anyone needs more help with me explaining this, feel free to text and reply. i could make a vid on this to make it easier. have a good day! :)

hey was wondering if you have made a video on it?
