Minecraft Windows 10 Edition Lost Worlds

Hello All,

Recently, I have had troubles with my Minecraft Windows 10 Edition freezing up every 20 or so minutes. Since this was a huge nuisance, I contacted Microsoft support and they told me to do some things, including uninstalling Minecraft W10E. I asked the person twice to make sure my worlds would not be erased, and they said that they would not. I come to find out that after uninstalling it and reinstalling it, my worlds, my skin, and my server saves were gone. Is there any way that I could retrieve those lost worlds? I am not concerned about the skin or the server saves, but I am the worlds. Please tell me what I need to do if it is possible to get my worlds back again.

To better help you with your concern about the missing world in the game Minecraft, we recommend that you follow the steps below:

How to recover missing Minecraft world:

  1. Click the start button and search %appdata%.
  2. Find and enter the .minecraft folder.
  3. Find the saves folder and right-click it, there should be an option called restore previous versions.

If the issue persists after doing the steps provided above, we recommend that you submit a request regarding this matter on this link.

    when you uninstall Excel in order to reinstall it, does it DELETE ALL OF YOUR EXCEL FILES? When you uninstall Word, does it delete all of your documents? No, of course not.

    My %appdata% folder appears to be for Java edition only.  Does Java and bedrock use the same folder?

    No. A response on an earlier page said the folder for the Windows 10 worlds (I've used it before but I can't remember the name). In MC, create a new world, then chuck the level.dat files into the broken world (the folders have a thumbnail for the world in them - use this to identify the world) and in the game your world should be back. If you delete the folder with the world in, use the Recycle Bin to get it back.

    Java uses a different folder.

    And yes, deleting Windows 10 Editon WILL delete all of your worlds unless they have been backed up outside of the Minecraft folder. If you need to reinstall the game, ALWAYS back up your worlds.

    I had a minecraft world on windows 10 that I was on. My screen went black so I restarted my pc. When I turned it on and reloaded minecraft the world was gone. I have tried using the steps to recover the world bit it has not worked and I'm not sure what to do. 

    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
