why has vista stopped automatic updates?

I have a "what if" question for you about Office 2007 and its end-of-life for extended support (10/10/17):

Microsoft says there will be no new security updates or non-security updatesfor Office 2007 after its support ends on 10/10/17.

Do you know what effect this will have on old updates for Office 2007?  Will they continue to show up when Windows Update is run, or will they have to be downloaded and installed manually through the Microsoft Update Catalog?

Let's say, for example, that I need to reinstall my operating system (Vista SP2 or Win7 SP1) and all programs (including Office 2007) in November for some reason.... virus, hard drive crash, etc.

Assuming I can get Windows Update to work after the reinstall, will it still provide the Office 2007 updates, security patches, etc. that were created before 10/10/17?  Or, will I have to go to the Microsoft Update Catalog to manually find them?

I have Vista home premium and office 2007 (dutch) installed.

Today I installed the 2 given 'new' updates:

KB4011064 (Compatibility Pack SP3) new

KB4011062 (Excel 2007)              new

After that I ran windows update and it foud 7 additional office 2007 updates which I installed. When I check the installed updates under 'installed programs' it has installed 44 updates in total today. So far so good.

However, when I open Outlook now it has somehow altered the language for the user interface. Not completely but half.... The task bar is shown in dutch but all options are now in I guess swedish or norwegian. I tried to alter the language in Outlook or in the Office language application, but nothing helps... As far as I can see Word and Excel are fully displayed in dutch as should be. I do not have any language interface packages installed. My guess is one of the updates is corrupt an alters the interface language partially..... 44 is quite a bunch to check manually, any suggestions which one it could be?

EDIT 1: I did a system restore to yesterday and the language setting is back to normal. So my conclusion is that one of the updates is truly corrupt. However I don't know which so it doesn't resolve the problem...

EDIT 2: After the system restore I ran windows update the normal way. It took about 3,5 hours to complete. I installed the 9 found updates resulting in the same 44 updates which are now shown again in 'installed programms and updates'. Outlook experiences the same problem now. Menu's ( especially options/preferences) are half dutch and half swedish or norwegian....

EDIT 3: It seems Microsoft made mistakes. Still some weird stuff going on after uninstalling the faulty update(s). See links below for all info and temporary solution:

Latest Outlook 2007 Security patch kb4011086 is wrong. Patch is change app language to Swedish!

Correct, would have been OK to leave as is. I'm just "Mr. Clean" :-) In your case I'd leave things as is.

Later I may try running MSRT May to see if it works without error message, but only after installing the May Server 2008 Patches first. It could be the OS Patches, if installed first, are allowing the MSRTs to run.

Why did you restore to your previous condition?  If it didn't run or didn't run to completion, then things should be the same as before (without restoring), right??  Granted, you have the new mrt.exe saved on your system, but the one you had before that one  ( mrt.exe Version 5.47.13703.0, April, 2017) had already done its job 3 months ago and is out of date now anyway. 

Just trying to figure out the rationale and learn something more (because I didn't set a restore point when I was trying to run v5.50) and even if I had, after I tried to run v5.50, I set a restore point before installing May WS 2008 patches, set another restore point before running June WS 2008 patches and set another restore point before running July WS 2008 patches.  Those May, June and July WS 2008 patches all ran OK on my Vista x86 and I wouldn't want to restore to the point before I ran v5.50 because I would lose all of those patches and would have to re-do them!
