why has vista stopped automatic updates?

Vista will no longer automatically update. Nothing I've attempted works to fix the issue.

EDIT - If you have Microsoft Office, find your March 2017 Version Updates here. I have Office 2007 - still supported.

    Thank you for your response volume Z.

    The updates you recommended were installed successfuly.

    After restarting my p.c. I tried to search again for updates and windows update still stalls with no results. So yes there was some progress, at least I got some updates installed but the main issue is still not resolved. It looks like we are going to be regular "clients" for you to provide us with links to the latest vista updates.

    Linux starts to seem more and more appealing...

    Are the Security Updates for:  Office 2007 Suites, and individual components such as Word 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, etc.  "cumulative"?

    I don't think so.

    For the term of Patch Day December 2016 until Patch Day January 2017 your critical selection for Office 2007 is KB3128019, KB3128022, KB3128024 and KB3128025. :)

    Question for you:

    Are the Security Updates for:  Office 2007 Suites, and individual components such as Word 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, etc.  "cumulative"?

    The last Security Update for Office 2007 Suites currently installed on my PC is KB3114442.  There are eight (8) newer ones available in the Microsoft Update Catalog; the most recent of which is KB3128020.

    Do I need to install all 8 of those Security Updates, or would the newest one (KB3128020) be sufficient?

    And does the same scenario apply to the individual Security Updates for Word 2007, Excel 2007, Outlook 2007, Powerpoint 2007, etc.  All of which have updates available that are newer than the ones currently installed on my PC.
