Vista will no longer automatically update. Nothing I've attempted works to fix the issue.

You didn't install what I recommend and I'm not associated with wu.krelay.de - but never mind. :)

    VZ,

P.S. to my previous Post above.

After installing your list of Vista 64-bit Microsoft Catalog Updates, my Windows Update still searched endlesssly UNTIL I installed KB3216775 as suggested here http://wu.krelay.de/en/ Within 10 minutes (using dialup Internet) Windows Update found 29 more to install including some for Office 2007. KB3216775 appears to be the ultimate fix for me and hopefully others. Thanks !!!

EDIT - Forgot to emphasize that not only must I set Windows Update to Never Check, I also must STOP the Windows Update Service in Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Services, open Windows Update (no PC restart) and Check for Updates manually to get the current and complete Update List. If I don't STOP WU Service, WU checks for updates endlessly. MS also recommends stopping WU Service as one solution to this BUG.

    VZ,

KB3185911, KB3168965, KB3164033, KB3145739, KB3109094 and KB3078601 are installed [EDIT - per another Discussion Thread on this BUG]. I installed KB3185911 manually after it tried searching for updates about 20 seconds. I'm now trying to install your five 64-bit Microsoft Catalog links, but each searches for updates endlessly. Windows Update is set to Never Check. Am I missing some updates in between? Any other ideas? I have Vista 64-bit Ultimate. Thanks

EDIT - Windows Update was running in the background for unknown reasons. I stopped it in Services and now the Microsoft Catalog Updates are installing - IE9 first. Thanks for your help.
