New Version of the Kinect (for Xbox One) Driver and the 3D Scan app

Hello users of Microsoft’s ‘3D Scan’ app!

We wanted to inform you that starting this weekend we will be launching a new version of our 3D Scan app (version 2.0.46.0) and people that have the app installed will see the update show up on their computers soon thereafter.

**IMPORTANT**

The new version of the app requires a new Kinect (for Xbox One) driver to work with your computer and will not be able to scan without it. Additionally the old version of the app will not scan with the new driver. (You can read more about the exciting new Kinect driver announcement here)

The new Kinect driver must also be installed manually. To install the new driver follow the steps below:

  1. In Cortana type ‘Device Manager’ and hit enter
  2. Find ‘Kinect sensor devices’ in the list
  3. Expand everything under ‘Kinect sensor devices’ (this should expose ‘WDF KinectSensor Interface 0’)
  4. Right click on ‘WDF KinectSensor Interface 0’ and select ‘Update driver’
  5. There should be a popup window that asks “How do you want to search for drivers?”
    1. Choose “Search automatically for updated driver software”
  6. Assuming all goes well, you should have just installed the new driver. Right clicking on ‘WDF KinectSensor Interface 0’ again and selecting ‘Properties’ should show you that you have driver version ‘2.2.1610.17001’ or greater
  7. If all does not go well and you did not get the new updated driver with the version listed above, remember that the driver takes time to filter through our backend system and be visible to all locations around the globe. If this happens, please be patient and try the same steps listed above at a later time.

For any issues regarding installing the new Kinect driver please let us know by commenting below.

If you have any feedback for, or issues with, the new 3D Scan app please leave your comments in the Feedback hub (Category: ‘Hardware, Devices, and Drivers’, Subcategory: ‘3D Scan’)

Thanks!

I did again and work as you said, but the kinect still the same with the same problem

CBGrant, after I spent a huge amount on the hardware upgrade and afterlatest driver have downloaded, the situation continued the same, that is:
    1- IN “Kinect v2 Configuration Verifier”/ “Kinect Connect” ,
it keeps changing in between:
NoKinect for Windows v2 sensor detected
and
Kinect for Windows v2 sensor detected

2- In the 3D Scan it´s informed that it can not initialize Sensor

3- IN ‘Verify kinect Depth and Color Streams” shows this warns “depth stream detected slightly below target frame rate

4- The driver in my computer is the same of yours (Version 2.2.1610.17001)

    @ItaloJFK,

What version of windows are you on? (type "winver" into cortana and give me the numbers that show up.

Make sure that your Kinect is plugged into a USB 3.0 slot. Maybe try a different USB slot on your computer and see if that improves things (that works for some people).

Also if you haven't please re-read this page here for tips and tricks on getting things setup: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hardware/3d-print/scanning-with-kinect

    Dear friend CBGrant,

On My Chipset + ASMedia ® USB 3.1 Gen 2 Controller, I have:

    1- 1 x porta USB tipo-C ™, USB 3.1 Gen 2

    2- 1 x porta USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A

    3- 10 x portas USB 3.1 Gen 1

    4- 4 x portas USB 2.0 / 1.1

    Note:

5- The USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A is the only one indicated in this case- that it supports Gen-2.

    6- Windows 10 - Version 1803 Nunber 17134.320)

7- My vídeo adapter is a NVidia Quadro 600

8-I re-read several times this page here looking for the same symptom on tips and tricks on getting things work, I found them in : https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/20dbadae-dcee-406a-b66f-a182d76cea3b/troubleshooting-and-common-issues-guide?forum=kinectv2sdk where is said that: If your app(D R I V E R ) is based on eventing rather than polling , it is possible to have the CPU sleep enough that the system doesn't get frames pulled from the driver often enough, eventually leading to periodic device disconnects.

    @ItaloJFK,

Does that mean you got it working? I couldn't find your quote on the link you provided.
