As of today 12 April 2016 Window 7 SP1 hangs in searching for updates.  Unlike other postings in 2015, their is no Orchestrator service in services.msc.  Prior to today Windows update was working fine.  Why is this happening?  Is there any other way to get these updates.  I have restarted the OS to no benefit.

Well if KBKB3161608 is supposed to be the fix, it sure isn't much of a fix as I already knew I didn't have that update installed and when I tried to manually install it, it said my system didn't support it, or something like that.

Knew I should've gotten right back on this site so I could post exactly what it said, but after waiting an hour plus to check for updates I said heck with it and wiped Windows out and installed Linux.

As Josagan posted, that is about exactly how I feel like MS is treating Windows 7 users and I've had enough of it!

My wife's computer is the only Windows machine left now out of 8. I will try installing KBKB3161608 on that machine as I know I don't have it installed on it also and see what happens. Maybe it'll be time to see if my wife can learn Linux after that? Sure will make my life easier when it comes to update anyway! :)

    KB3161608 requires KB3020369 installed. :)

Finally checking wife's computer, last Windows computer left, and I did not have KB3020369 installed. That KB3161608 was pulled almost as soon as it was realesed, so not available anymore.

Installed KB3020369 anyway. Will see what happens next month!

KB3161608 was only pulled as of yesterday as far as I've noticed and I often check links it was good for a while.
