Joel_CS-----Thanks so much for posting this. Microsoft's technician had installed KB3102810 to fix this, but didn't really work. This update finally allowed me to find updates again. I do have some questions, though, that I hope you (or anyone) can answer for me.
When I installed KB3145739 and restarted my computer, had something strange happen. It restarted into what looked like safe mode and with HP's recovery manager appearing. I closed that out and my computer then restarted normally. Not sure why that happened, just wondering if anyone might know.
I realize the following questions may sound dumb, but I'm not sure exactly what I should do. So, here goes:
1.) Since KB3102810 and KB3145739 are both "update standalone installers," should I uninstall KB3102810?
2.) If Microsoft ever fixes the update problem, should I uninstall KB3145739 at that time?
3.) Is it normal after checking for updates to have some ready to install when shutting down even though you have settings marked to "download updates but let me choose when to install them"? I've always had updates set to automatically install, so I'm not familiar with how things work otherwise. Thanks for any help with this.
